So I tried letting Striker sleep in the bed

My husband is away, and I thought it'd be a great time to let Striker sleep in our bed. I saw how many dobes share a bed off the poll so I figured I'd spoil him a bit.

He does come into our bed for naps and early mornings after we take him out, but he's never spent a full night (or even longer than a hour) in our room and never at night.

Every single time I moved, he went into watchdog mode. He jumped up, ears went into alert mode, and it took a few minutes to settle him down. I don't think he felt very comfortable being out of his kennel at night. It was a fairly sleepless night for both of us.

I'm not so sure we'll be trying this again! lol I love the boy to death, but I love my peaceful sleep also. :)

I am letting Ruger lay with us for an hour or so when we first come in the bedroom so we have snuggle time if not dad wouldn't get any time with him you know he is home at six or later, dinner, then eight thirty to bedroom. Poor Ruger with his old parents but dad gets up at four. It's a win win he is happy to have snuggle time then happy for his own bed.

We tried to let him sleep with us and he is a pain when we are both in bed. He was like your baby the first time I let him sleep with me when dad was out of town it took a few nights then he settled down and slept on dads side.

I was reading another thread where they are talking about how heavy the dogs sleep when they sleep in the masters bed. So I am thinking I will let him snuggle then go to his own bed even when dad is out of town as the main reason my husband wanted a doberman was to protect while he is gone.
