Finley has started this new thing which is driving me crazy.
He whines, barks, whines some more honestly you'd think I was hurting him or something the noises that come out of him constantly with no cause.
The only thing I can think of is maybe there's an in season lady around the neighbourhood?.. But his inside with us or if his outside playing he walks around happy one minute then starts whimpering/whining. He doesn't go to the gate looking or anything he just does it with what his doing eg.. When grabbing his toy or ball he'll just whine.. And oh man, it is a nightmare I don't know really how to work round this.
At night time is the worst. He would have been on. 10k bike ride with me and then in the evening a 5k walk each day, he is tired and wants to sleep but he still persists on whining. I've ignored him, incasr its an attention thing.
I've took myself out the room a few minutes which used to work but now his just doing it anyway wether I'm there or not and its not nice!
Hmm not sure. Hades is a whiner but he knows when to stop. It's usually when I give him a bone. He'll pace the house and whine with it in his mouth like he's afraid someone will take it, which no one does. If I tell him to lay down he will, then chew on it. Sometimes I think he doesn't know what to do with himself without some direction. :rolleyesww:
His 9 months old,
And yeah he does kinda do that with his bone too,
But it's just draining that he is barking n whining when nothing is around or happening, he seems like he doesn't want to do it but he does it anyway.
I took him the vet to rule out any underlining problems but he is all healthy and fine so bit of a bump in the road! ;(!

Dobes can't be over exercised (forced) till 18 months to 2 years old, when the growth plates are closed.
- maybe Finley's whinning is constant crying in disguise, because his bones hurt too much as a 9 month old puppy
Our vet told us no excessive exercise until much older she said walk him no jogging and that our two mile walk was enough then play and daycare. I know she said until two or so before jogging but we stopped talking about it when I gave her that "look at us two old fat people do u really think this talk is needed?"
I would suggest you see your vet maybe he has something going on also sometimes dobermans who whine a lot have a urine infection as its painful. I don't want to scare you so I won't list the many things that can go wrong with a puppy my prayer is something simple for your baby.
Sorry should of explained that better, we go on a 10k bike ride, but i ride how his feeling. So when he goes for a run il obivously speed up abit.. But he will then slow down have a sniff,
Kindof jog abit for a while, then walk, then get the zoomies.
I completly go by his pace i dont set the pace.
Its to get us out the house for abit in the morning before work to spend time together..His off lead and its exactly like when his on a walk, except im on a bike ..
I should of said that better...
I can go to the vets, but im not overly impressed with my vet to be honest..
We live in a remote place so i havnt got any other choice than them.. But when it comes to training they dont seem to have the same approach.. They are quite..'hands on' which i dont like i prefer positive training so...
But its not a painful whine nor is it a whine for my attention as such its more like he is wanting something hence why i thought the season females might be interupting his sleep..
He could just be testing me too, he is quite stubborn at the moment lol! ...

this is still forced exercise, and shouldn't happen until he's older. i would discontinue this until his growth plates have fused. and if you don't like your vet, find another one.
That much constant whining seems excessive to me. Gideon is quite vocal, but not to the point that I wonder what's wrong. He is a normal vocal dobie. Like the others, I feel it may be too much exercise or something wrong medically making him feel bad. I live in a rural area too, and understand about limited vet choices. Surely, there is one within driving distance that can help? Try touching on his legs and joints to see if a particular spot causes a reaction maybe? Easy, though, don't POKE.
If he whines even after you've given him food or a toy or some loving, then there is definitely something wrong. As spoiled as Gideon is, he doesn't whine for no reason. It's usually because he wants something and I am not giving it to him at the moment. Or he's mad because he can't sit in my lap.
Oh ok, i didnt realise!
He has so much energy that with a quick walk it doesnt really do much for him, he loves the oursoors..
Butsince posting this anyway i havnt taken him far atall. Just keeping it short and sweet.
I did notice somethink yesterday on his tail..
Its got kind of a bump in it, which wasnt there before so i touched it gently and he seemed funny about me touching it so il get that checked out..
As for finding a new vet theres no hope.
Th neart city to where i live is darwin - 10hours away and then the big city that would have the best vet care would be perth - 3 days drive or melbourne- 5 days drive so...
Thanks for the advice, i feel terrible now ive been taking him for long walks that i might of hurt him..so unintentionally!
Will get this lump seen too on his tail see if anything improves..
Start looking into some mental exercise for your boy, that really helps. Toys, tricks, there are lots of threads on here.
