Our Home Depot isn't They gave me a really hard time about bringing Red in there, but after I promised I'd stay in the corner of the store to practice obedience, they let us in... but there was an employee lurking around the whole time keeping an eye on us :/
I took Aries into Bass Pro the other day. All they asked was that he was friendly and obedient. Got a lot of interesting "wait, there's a dog in here." looks.
We get those looks at Lowes. Lol even people turn and go the other way. I think
I might chase them down and bring them back to my husband and Cash. Then educate them on dobermans.
We get a lot of people interested in how obedient he is. And how loving he watches the girls. That is our boy!!
I just went to Home Depot today and meant to ask if it was pet friendly. I've heard that not all of them are. I somewhat remember seeing a sign that said "service animals only" but I can't remember if that was at my Home Depot or not. I need to find out bc I go there a lot! Maybe Hades will keep some of the creeps from hitting on me!! But probably not, he'll want to play with them
Aside from the grocery/pharmacy/walmart... Dog goes in everywhere with me. Lots of times I get side-eye from employees at that point ill ask 'is he ok?' and 9 times out of 10 its cool.
Dollar stores dont like dogs however... :rolleyesww:
Here's, too, as long as you put your dog into the purse(!) or the cart like this. No bare foot, I mean paws(lol).
Japan is getting to be a dog friendly country but designed for small breeds!!!
The sign on the cart says: For large dogs.
This was taken at the DIY store.
Without being with my husband, I cannot lift Elza up
i guess Maryland's not dog-friendly, or something. when i worked at a Hallmark store we used to boot people who brought dogs in when i worked retail...didn't want them chewing/peeing on the cards and other floor-level merch.
In ottawa I'm not sure about Lowes but Rona is!! Home Depot is no longer since some jerk small dog in a cart bit a store greeters face. Apple Saddlery is too, and they happen to adore Dobes!
I have always taken my guys to Lowes, however, the manager of each store is the one who decides whether dogs are allowed. Just stop by the front desk and ask before walking in without permission.
I like Lowes because there is usually so much going on and so many of the employees and customers love seeing the dogs.
Rams and I make our weekly runs to one or more at Tractor Supply, Atwoods, Lowes, and Home Depot. Our local Joplin Home Depot says purse dogs only if you call but they will let you in with some face-to-face reassurance of good behavior.
I have also wondered about outdoor greenhouses and nurseries. I will check in to these this spring.
Home depot has a sign that says no pets, but I called and since they are next to Petsmart they will allow them unless someone complains. menards said only service dogs. I found a few smaller pet supply stores to travel to. Just for different environments.
I work at a big fancy outdoor mall, and pretty much all the shops here are dog friendly
There's a Macy's, dicks sporting goods, best buy, hallmark, build a bear, and a ton of other shops. The only stores I know of that don't allow dogs are the ones that have food in there (like the candy shop, etc) but the whole mall pushes it's dog friendly thing. They even have a huge dogs event once a year, right in front of my shop Apollo loves going into Macy's
Our local RONA likes our Kelly, probably helps I know the store manager.
Home Depot is not dog friendly, here in London, ON....so I never thought of taking puppy into LOWES (good to know, thks).
Once Kelly jumped out of the cart & Dad had to have a friendly talk, with the baby...staff & customers, all enjoyed her visit.
- I didn't have a leash in my truck, and I didn't want to run around the store after her...so she learned to stay put
flaminscotch - the garbage pail "banana" thief antics, was "piss everyone pants" funny...new photo for DT enjoyment / love the white of her eyes here.
- Dad, seriously...just dumpster diving, not stolen off anyones desk...:lol2:
Kelly's older & dear friend Elza, must of trained this puppy to enjoy a shopping cart "well mannered" ride vs. locked in my truck outside...he-he.
- sharing good dober knowledge vibes, all the way from Japan
I love bringing my dogs to stores, but make a point that they are on-leash and behaving or else we walk out. I don't agree with the article because of their tone, but want to stress that dogs need to be on their best behavior!
Sorry, but the author of that article has every right to expect that people not allow their dogs to approach him. I happen to like dogs (obviously) but I don't like it when other people let their dogs run up to me willy-nilly. Even if I ask someone if I can pet their dog, I don't like it when it jumps on me. I don't like my own dogs all over me. Why should I put up with someone else's dog all over me?
I knew someone who said he would just slap a service dog vest on his german shepherd dog & just take him into the store. The dog was well behaved of course, but he said there wasn't any questions asked about him bringing the dog in anywhere he decided to go.
