I just noticed it today, and hey it may be a weird day for her...her urinary system has proved to be weird with some foods and she had a lot of new treats yesterday.
Anywho, I noticed today that while Mabel was sleeping, she did look uncomfortable but I believe she was having a bad dream, that she was leaking pretty good drip...3....2....1...drip and repeat, I woke her up and put her outside she peed right away came back, dripped a little after and I haven't really noticed anything since. It was clear but moderately urine smelling (yes I'm that person lol, I held a paper towel to her vulva before she went outside to pee)
The only other time she was having leaking issues she also had overall control issues and wonky pee stick readings and gravitys until she was switched of natures variety instinct, a really rather different situation.
There are also odds she was just very tired from yard play and forgot she had a full bladder but she's usually not that "slow" unless she's in the yard guarding something for 5 min then "ohhh I had to pee"
We DO go to the vet friday for heartworm and lepto but just curious in the mean time about any other experiences as it doesn't seem like spay incontinence (she was done at 9 months rather fast after a heat and during the end of a false pregnancy) and she does have a minimally hooded vulva.
End ramble lol, thanks for any input, i'm just trying to decide if it was a weird moment or a big thing....we will be getting it checked regardless just being an obsessive mom.
I'm no vet but it sounds like spay incontinence. Coco has it and has had it since she was about 3. We use corn silk when it flares up as she will often not leak for months. When it starts again she has corn silk for about a week and then no more leaks for several months.
Coco goes outside to pee very frequently even though she is 4. She does not like waking up wet so I let her out a lot. She often wakes up at night to pee so I let her out. I'm good at walking around the house with my eyes closed in the middle of the night.
I won't be surprised if it is, it's just presenting weird.
She did wake me up at 3 am to almost *facepalm* make it out the door...
Part of me worries if she is just a space cadet on her bladder or if she is rather sensitive to certain diet changes when it comes to her renal/urinary system...but i'm awesome at overthinking
That is where my brain is going as well...mostly due to the accident, (though she hadn't been out since 7pm or earlier, she can usually wait till I get to the door, idk how long it took her to get me to wake up tho)
It resolved with the food change before so we never pursued the kidney ultrasound, just did a week of sticks to watch and make sure they remained all normal....
I'll see what she does tomorrow, so far nothing else today or even right now...lord knows her adorable doberball butt wouldn't be on my bed if she was!
ETA:
idk seems like something about them attracts it. look at all the hooded vulvas and then you have monroe (if you've seen her thread)
It's easy to deal with but definitely makes me wish I'd let her finish the false pregnancy at very least.
Ah, just throw on a grandma blanket. That's what my daughter calls all the weird looking blankets I get from the thrift store that look especially absorbent.
I did that to the couch when she was leaking too many sad dober eyes
Urine for sure and go from there, we feed and have fed since the NVI american natural premium duck and pork and ocean whitefish and potato (random swapping on the flavors, no patter, but usually more duck)
Idk, she's always given me a wonky feeling since that episode, like her coat never to my eye recovered, but I can't decide if she just has a thinner coat or i'm obsessing because she's got her reactivity issues, her mothers health...all those things you worry about when you're too involved/see them every day.
lucky me (and unfortunate parents/so) I have a decent savings right now meant for others but she comes first and they thankfully respect that.
Interesting, think there may be any correlation there?
also with the fact, in mabels case, she is slightly hooded, and was massive! when she was in heat, like almost bulging out! (i never thought her vulva would look normal again haha)
I'm with everyone else. Sounds like incontinence, but I could be wrong. If it is incontinence, then ******* actually has this issue. Once she realizes it, she jumps up and hunches over feeling so bad, and yes ... as most of you know ******* was adopted from a shelter at 9 1/2 months old, and she was spayed at the shelter at 9 months old.
Of course, having a full bladder is going to increase the likelihood of a problem. My vet showed me how to feel on her sides real quick to see if her bladder is full (no, I don't have to feel anywhere near her naughty bits). ******* usually does it when she's in a deeper slumber or nap. Before we go to bed at night I take her out. She always has cold water in her bowl refilled throughout the day so she always has access. However; once it's late at night, I give her icecubes (unless she's been running around and really thirsty).
Right now it's not too bad. If it gets worse then we'll go from there. There's a pill they can take to help contract the muscles tighter my vet said.

I'm not sure which is worse, an intact bitch bleeding or a spayed one leaking. I'm trying the former now, it's not fun, but at least it's predictable and only for a couple weeks at 7 month intervals, and the "granny/army blankets" can come off the furniture the rest of the time.
hey the later can be solved with medication AND there aren't any mood swings :roflmao:
she leaked a small bit overnight, but it seems like it's only happening when she has a fuller bladder otherwise she stays dry no matter how deep she sleeps...like nap number 4 of the morning going on now
