Atlas is in the very good hands of Dr Diana Davila at Alameda East having a intestinal blockage removed. I have tons of faith in that hospital but I still want some energy sent to Atlas.
We have done this before, but it was only his stomach. This time its a little deeper.
I have no idea what he ate, the house is pretty well Atlas proofed.
It expensive but I dont care. I feel bad for the pain hes in and will be in for the next couple days.
Sometimes these animals are too smart for their own good! I had a box of Christmas ribbons up on the top shelf of a hall closest, and the doors were the sliding doors (but they were difficult to slide, you really have to give it a nudge), and they were shut.... well.....during the middle of the night my cat opened the door, scaled the shelf, opened the box and ate many of the ribbons. I've since thrown out all ribbons. Last Christmas our presents looked so depressed with no ribbons on them :rolleyesww:
Sending healing prayers and lots of good wishes for Atlas. I know first hand how hard this is to go through, but Im sure you got him care in time and he will be fine.
good thoughts and vibes for you and Atlas..... these babies are so hard to monitor when they are inappropriate eaters..... I have my home Mimi proofed but when cleaning up the back yard I nearly always find evidence that she ate something she should not have.
just got off the phone with the surgeon. It was not really what I wanted to hear
When she got in, his bowels were purpleish, she said about 80% of it. the object was just about to the colon so she didnt have to actually cut his bowels but its heart breaking to hear that so much of his bowels are 'bad.' She said his bowels were pinking up as the surgery went on so Im hoping that they recover enough.
I didnt talk to her much more after that, she said he will be in ICU for at least 2 days.
I dont know what options are available if his bowels dont recover.
The dr said it was some sort of toy octopus or something. Something with lots of arms. She didnt save it which Im bummed about, now I can't do any detective work... it was big enough to disrupt but small enough to pass without perforating the gut.
It could have been something the neighbor kids left in the yard and he picked up
It could have been @ day care (kinda doubt it because day care doesnt have toys except balls)
It could have been ....I just don't know
I was very down yesterday because she didnt have much hope in her voice. Not so today. She said she was very surprised how well he is doing this morning. He ate a whole bowl of food and hasn't vomited. She said he looks a lot better. This makes me very hopeful! Seriously tearing up right now.
