Hello All!
Harley is now 2 years old! Wow, time sure flew by fast! All and all, for my first doberman I think we did a pretty good job.
He is quickly excelling at agility and I think in about 6 months we may enter him in a fun trial, just to see how he does.
We still don't have loose leash walking down without the prong, we are trying the 100 peck method and I do think we are making progress. I really want him walking loose leash on a flat collar. He is very good on leash when we are walking around downtown Pleasanton (full of people, cars, shops, etc), just he doesn't see anything wrong with pulling when he gets excited.
He has picked up one annoying behavior problem in the last couple of months. He has started this high pitch bark when his toys roll under the couch, which has transgressed to when he wants something. In response to this, we just ignore it, but I have started up-ing the exercise.
This morning I took him on a long hike and boy, do we make up for loose-leash with his recall! It is a mixed-use recreational trail full of mountain bikers, hikers, kids, other dogs. Every time we see someone on the trail I call him and he comes running back to me. We sit and wait till people pass. All the bikers commented on what a good dog he is. Made me proud!
Anyway, that's it. Any comments or suggestions on loose leash would be helpful. And oh! I just weighed him and he is 73lbs, so is this his ideal weight now? Will he keep growing past two years?
Thanks for reading!:thanx:
