It's a few days late, but he doesn't mind. We went to the arboretum, where they let dogs go off leash, a couple weeks before his birthday. He had a great time running around, checking out the wetlands...

Before he lost his balance and fell in. He wound up with green slime all over the place. So for his birthday, he had a bath, some chicken, and got a new glow in the dark ball from Orbee, with treats.

Happy birthday, puppers. I treasure every day.

He says thanks, DT! And also recommends green slime facials. They do wonders for the skin, and open up the pores.

I adopted him in 2008, and he was 3 then. He's a shelter dog, so I have no idea who his breeder was. He does look really, really good for 8. Just about the only thing I notice now is that he tires faster than he used to. Part of that might be age, part of it might be Wobblers. A 2 mile walk, he'll need to rest during, but he still loves getting outside and eating deer poop. His eyebrows are juuuust starting to turn grey, it's adorable. :D

Aaahhh, Happy Birthday, Griffin!!! Glad you had a nice and exciting exploring romp on your pre-birthday. Sorry about the unplanned dip...unless you enjoyed it.:)

Griffin does look really nice for being eight. I hope he's around for many more enjoyable years.

Happiest Birthday to you, Griffin! May there be many many more to follow.

I have a quick green slims story too. About 100 years ago I was about 6-7, family was out camping/hiking on some mountain property we own. I was running ahead like always with the dogs and I suddenly couldn't see them.

I was standing near "the pond" which is a 30' or so spring-fed slime puddle the cows drink from and was the base of a 8 or so foot drop on one side. . I called to my dogs and I could hear them running full tilt for the top of the drop. I hollered "NOOOOO WAIT!" and the schnauzer stopped but the beagleX , undeterred by my 7yo authority, came flying off that embankment and plopped right in the middle. She came up covered in slime and swam over to me happy as could be and totally nonplussed that she now wore a stinking ghillie suit of pond scum.

I so wish I had a video of that moment. How did we ever live without smartphones?

So see Griffin? Could have been worse. Happy birthday, big guy!
