Mo is one lucky boy, drives around in style now.
Very nice SUV...Is it the 2.0L or 2.5 Litre ?
- gas mileage on window sticker ?

I found this interesting - Mazda's i-ELOOP Regenerative Braking System:

Mazda's SKYACTIV engines work to harness maximum energy from every drop of fuel, but what's the point if that hard-won energy is allowed to go to waste? Yet every time you slow down much of that energy is lost. Mazda engineers came up with a solution to this problem. i-ELOOP is a groundbreaking regenerative braking system that harnesses the car's kinetic energy and converts it into electricity. This electricity is used to power your car's electronics—a job that used to fall to the engine. Now, every time you slow down, you charge up. The result: around approximately five percent better fuel economy, and your engine is freed up for more exciting tasks.

I just bought a mint SUV last week, 2005 Jimmy 4x4...runs nice but hard on gas...Kelly gets the front bucket seat or the folded down rear split seat.

Maybe a house lol...?

And yeah, I just could not stand not being able to take him and my neices on walks together, or being able to go anywhere where we needed to bring luggage. He is SO SO SO TALL, that he has to duck in my backseat, and when he lays down, he rolls off.

This new one has a nice large hatch in the back for a crate and bed. It will make road trips a lot easier (like the one we are taking to tampa in the end of July).

Plus it is pretty fun for mommy

I bought Reba a BMW to go to school in, put personalized plates on it "YUP PUP" short for yuppy puppy. Our other Dobe Gus had a jeep with "GUS PUP" plates. Sad I don't have these dogs or cars anymore. Skye doesn't "have her own car" yet.
I did the same thing back in december. She seemed to like the 5 series. so i bought her one. I borrow it to go to work during the day. She joy rides it at night when shes out looking for children to eat lol.

Over the years I've purchased 2 suv's for the dogs. Currently have my eye on a minivan!

Siri, however, is the first of the dogs to take advantage of "their" suv.

No way this is awesome!!!! We've been contemplating getting an SUV for the pups as well. We have a 4 door altima and a 2 dr accord. Yes two dogs could fit comfortably in either car but having an SUV would be much more convenient.

Yay for the birthday present! :)

OK so I have a question for the OP or anyone else who wants to chime in who has experience ....

I know there was a thread about seat belts and some of this was discussed in it so I apologize if I shouldn't be asking this here

My question is ... do you plan on using the very back space (where the hatch is) to put your dog ? i.e. in a crate back there? Or are you using that for storage and your dog will go in the back seat?

I ask because ... we've been thinking about an SUV as well and I am torn as to whether or not I would utilize that space mainly b/c I feel like I were to get rear ended and my dog was back there ... then what?

Would love to know your thoughts

Kelly and Dad used the Jimmy SUV today, to pickup 2 heavy patio stones at the building supply store.
The back seat has a center split and is capable of folding completely flat.
- so I leave one half of the rear seat down and the other side up, that way it easily seats 3 people...without changing anything
- Kelly will lay between the trunk & folded back seat or come into the front bucket seat and sometimes rest her head on the arm rest
Our other SUV is a 2005 Cadillac Escalade...I need to sell it, just don't need 3 row seating, anymore.

I know the feeling! I went from a sporty coupe (335i) to a giant SUV too. Kinda made ME feel old! I'll be getting a 3 Series Sport Wagon in the fall/winter and multiple people have asked when the babies are coming- ha!

Happy almost first birthday to your boy! Enjoy the new car smell before it is taken over by dog smell. Hehe.

Elza's Mom, this Santa is all out of cash. Sorry no SUV this year.

Of course Mo needs an SUV.

My girlfriend has the best Doberman set up for her 2 boys. All seats removed from her SUV, except front two. Plywood down first, carpet, then 2 oversized dog beds. It is the ultimate in doggie luxury.

And I hate to admit it but we bought a minivan to take the dogs to the cottage. It is our third vehicle so thankfully I don't have to drive it. I drive the cool farm truck.

Anichols, We are on Maple Lake, Haliburton.
Sort of halfway between West Guilford and Carnarvon.
Our farm/home is only about 40 minutes south.
I have some great pictures of Zachary and Claire playing in the lake last summer. Maple has a great sandy shallow shore, so you can throw the ball for hours.

Lake of Bays is a stunning area.

I am going to be getting another crate to put in the back, but it will be loaded with a ton of pillows and sheets and toys.

He loves to go on car rides, but to watch him try to move around in the backseat is just sad.. he needed something bigger!

I do plan on having kids in the next 5 years, so I figured it will get multiple uses. I have 3 nieces, and could not fit them and the carseats in the car with dog for walks, so I have not been able to take them before... now I will be able to!

I am SO anxious waiting for it to arrive... they had to special order it, so I have to wait a week to get it =[

Poor, POOR Kiss. Her mommy really is a tight wad! Here I thought I spoiled the dickens out of her. Well, if mommy wasn't so cheap to make payments she would have an SUV. LOL I've thought about it, but gosh, I don't have multiple animals riding in a car and I don't want a payment, so POOR Kissy will have to ride scrunched up if she can't sit up straight in the backseat of a Chevy Cavalier. Or how ever you spell it. LOL :roflmao:

I suppose it is not JUST for him... I do live in NY, and need something more reliable, and something that is going to be safer in the snow.

I also plan on having kids in the next few years, so I figured I might as well just get the SUV so I have room for Mariano and children lol.

I'm in need of a new car and have been looking at the CX-5 VERY seriously! I currently have a Honda CRV and really didn't relish the thought of giving up my SUV but I needed something with good gas mileage. The CX-5 gets very good mpg for an SUV (non-hybrid). With 2 Dobes it's almost a must to have more room than what a regular car provides... How are you enjoying it??

Funny. My S.O. and I have been looking at this model car for a couple months now. It amuses me that someone else on this forum had a similar interest, since most people I know have never even heard of it.

I have been torn between the 2014 CX-5 and the Honda CR-V, but I think the CX-5 is more aesthetically pleasing (no humongous tail lights, and unlike the CR-V they offer bright, jewel-like paint jobs. I really, really want the sky blue mica color!), and the ratings are similar. :)
