Ive read a lot of people freeze things in their Kongs or fill them with various "wet" treats ie. peanut butter

BUT where do you give your dogs these, i was reading about stuffing a Kong for the dog while you are out too keep it entertained, but theres no way i am having a peanut buttered carpet/walls/bed when i get in

also i feel if i leave a Kong with stuff frozen in it as Caes doesnt always play with his Kong when alone it might just sit there melting onto the carpet...

we only have wood flooring downstairs but Caesar has the down/upstairs halls and my bedroom to chill in if he is alone at home either way i dont really want PB wooden floors either

ps i know i keep saying peanut butter but i cant think of anything else other than that or that Kong squirty stuff

Hi, my two both get their frozen peanut butter kongs and they just take them to their beds and they dont stop until the kongs are empty, they dont make much mess with them apart from sticky noses and legs but that soon gets licked off. I also mix some of their food with natural yoghurt and freeze it and sometimes canned pumpkin or a little bit of mushed banana i just fill them with anything that is good for them.

My dogs only get Kongs in their crates. Shanoa's Kong technique is to fling the Kong as hard as possible at the ground so that it splatters, so crate only!

Toby absolutely detests peanut butter, he won't even sniff at it, much less eat it.

To be honest I have never fed him a frozen kong.

For one thing the ants here are ferocious so any food left out, be it fresh or frozen is on their menu and woe betide any dog who tries to stop them. I had to rush Sasha my old Boxer girlie (RIP sweetheart) to the vets with a severe reaction to ant bites when she tried to eat a bone outside.

Also if any of the food gets dropped in the house we have a trail of ants within minutes beelining for it.

But hey, they sound like a great idea if your dog is interested in them which it seems a great many are.

The only thing that gets messy for my dogs is raw ground meat and only Flirt. She can eat anything else without a mess but I have to wash her bedding weekly in her kennel because it has "kong goo" on it :(

Several years ago bought a Kong that held treats, ended up with dry food bits on the leather couch & crumbs all over our oak floor.
- now we just buy decent size marrow bones
- pup Kelly, has been on this bone since 10:00 this morning and its almost 9pm at night here / still a 2nd one in the fridge
- she is up on the leather frequently, and no junk left behind
- first few hours, she has to stay on a thick blanket...with a new frozen beef bone, until the outside meats and soft center gets cleaned off/out enough
And great for cleaning canine teeth, is a big bonus.
