Ok as the summer approaches and flea and tick season start i have been seeing adds for Pet Armor Pro. I usually use Frontline Plus, i just wanted to know if anyone uses Pet Armor or any alternatives.

It's generic Frontline. There are several different brands. Personally, I think the fleas around here are resistant to it. I have better luck with Advantage.

I'm with rosemary...the darn fleas here caught on to the frontline products too...we have seen tons of resistance with it. Advantage products are all I can use also. But if you find that Frontline works well, it wouldn't hurt to try Pet Armour, since they contain the same ingredients. I think that I've even seen single tubes of it being sold so its a more affordable way to try it out.

Advantix contains "Imidacloropid" which can be bought at a fraction of the price over the internet if you don't want it to come in a fancy box with the piccie of a dog on it.

My friend just bought a bottle of "Imidacloropid" for 22 euros which is about $29. It will treat 800 large dogs or upto 1000 small dogs and kills fleas, ticks, mozzies etc, in the same way Advantix does but at a fraction of the cost obviously.

As a repellant for biting flies and ticks from crawling onto her dogs she also bought 20 tags which can be attached to a dogs collar very easily. Now whilst it is true the tags were originally designed to be used on sheep etc, they are quite safe for dogs to wear, (though not in their ears as a sheep would but as I have said attached to the dogs collar). She paid 80 euros or $104 for 20 tags each of which will last 5 months.

Having looked into it I am strongly leaning towards following suit as I spend an absolute fortune on treatments for my dogs one of them being Scalibor collars which cost me $37 a piece (I have 3 dogs) which whilst they do last between 4-6 months do not work out as good value as the tags.

The tags are impregnated with "Permethrin" and will not harm the dog anymore than the stuff you buy over the counter such as 'Frontline' etc to spray on your dogs coats.

For those of us with more than one dog buying the ingredient rather than the packaged deal can save a considerable amount of money.
Add to this, if several people got together to buy the tags and "Imidacloropid" fact is, it could cost you cents instead of dollars to protect your dogs which cannot be a bad thing, especially when they are protected as good if not better than when you buy Advantix in its nice little package with the cute dog on the front of the box.

Just wanted to add my friend researched this long and hard and I genuinely follow her view that seeing as the ingredients found within Advantix are no different to what you can buy over the counter without the cute pic of the leaping dog on the box cover it makes sense to look into yourself and do the math. If any of you are interested the product my friend bought (she has 8 dogs by the way) which I again would like to stress differs in no way from Advantix in makeup is sold under the brand name of 'NUPRID'.
The only difference between Advantix and Nuprid is you have to measure out the amount you put on the dogs skin and rub in, 1.25ml mixed with 2.5ml water or carrier oil, (syringes are wonderful for measuring it accurately), whereas Advantix have done it for you and charged you royally for the privalege.
