Our mailman refuses to come to our house, not because the dogs have done anything to him, save bark. Okay, that could be considered somewhat intimidating to someone of a nervous disposition. However, seeing as he doesnt have to come near the compound, our mailbox is 50 yards from the fenceline it isnt as if they are that close as to make him jump or anything.
^^^^ +++1 picture.
This Dad is retired and my eyes aren't as good, as the young bucks here...lol.
- so I took the liberty, to give this awesome photo more justice...and resized it much larger
Our past Amy girl really loved-loved-loved, our regular mail man:
If I didn't see him walking down our block, Amy would see him "Bart-man" from the house bay window...and bark her head off "mad" at her Dad.
- from the postal supervisor, down to the part time mail deliverers...they all got to know, our old dobe
- and always stopped, to greet her...every morning she was outside off-leash (unsupervised)
Our mail delivery was never refused.
But she once backed up and held a meter reader against the next door neighbors house wall...protecting their kids !! - dear Amy's favorite driveway spot, to daily watch what life brings...little Trevor is our son's dog, everyone liked him too
(both dogs trained to stay off the roadway, with the freedom to meet nice people)
Mila is... as I've announced to the DT universe already, quite the little home security system :sweat: Like her big brother Duke, she's ready to sound off a "warning woof" when someone approaches the property. We haven't lived in this small town for very long but every mail carrier knows our house as "the one with the scary-sounding GS and the Doberman". Sure, they talk a pretty big game, but they're both such lovers and their butts wiggle to-and-fro once they get their opening statements out of the way
This morning I had them both out on the front porch enjoying the warm sun since I just got home from work. I saw the mailman making his approach from down the road, and put them both in a "down-stay" at the top of our steps. Our mailbox is attached to the bottom of this staircase, about 15 feet away. He nervously walked up to it, deposited our mail, then booked it away from the steps (even though he got two simultaneous "HELLO!!!!" barks from the fur-kids, gee how rude! )
Hades lunges and barks at anyone who dares to knock on our door. Of course once I invite them in, he's all wigglebutt, face-licking friendly. He tends to welcome guests by seeing if their laps are big enough to hold him.
The answer is no Hades, the answer is always no. You're too big.
Great picture.
You mean they actually stayed when you told them to? Wow. I can just imagine the mailman looking over his shoulder.
My husband walks Claire & Zachary through our little village. We are also known as the crazy house with the Doberman and German Shepherd. ( When we moved here in 2007 we had TWO of both)
