My intention is not to talk about war or stir ill feelings. This is a history fact and is just for the interest of the dobes. If I find anything from across the sea as such I would gladly put it on to just to show the dobes. This is a tribute to dobes and all other dogs in action

Yeah, I've seen that too. I have the poster at home. My Dad was in Guam in WWII

It is pretty powerful stuff and any and all methods of fighting BSL is positive.

If you haven't already done so, you might enjoy reading; Always Faithful: A Memoir of the Marine Dogs of WWII by William Putney, DVM. If memory serves me correctly, I picked up a copy off the web for less then $10 including shipping.

My mother-in-law's childhood dog was a GSD and former war dog named Silver. Her dad, my wife's grandfather, was working for the Humane Society at the end of the war when he was asked to bring Silver home. Silver lived out his life as a member of their family and protector of the farm.

I will pick up the book. Wow to actually know someone who had one of those dogs after the war. Did they get to hear any stories about Silver?

I don't think so. I'll have to ask to be sure. He must have been a very special boy. Silver is the only dog we've ever heard my wife's mother talk about from her childhood. With her dad doing work for the Humane Society and owning a farm, you've got to figure there were other dogs around.
