Which ones have you used? I have heard that you can buy it already packaged or make it up yourself.
whiteandblue hasnt fed any of them, she just is starting to switch her puppies right now.
ive fed many diets, so ill give my input.
aunt jenis is a nice food and smells wonderful, but is only in ground and only comes in 4 flavors last time i used it (chicken, beef, lamb and rabbit). they do make cat and ferret "versions". they also have a lot of supplements, including flax seed, which can be detrimental for some. jeni b though is a REALLY awesome woman, so thats a good aspect.
halshan is only ground, and personally i dont know many people that could continually expect to pay those prices.
the same can be said for most of the other products - paying 3-4 dollars a lb for many of those things would make me broke in a month - especially for things like chicken, which can be bought for easily under 40 cents a lb in almost any place
steves is a chunked food, so some may like that. however my animals thought it sucked, and its very limited in flavors (2 of them i believe).
sojos isnt a raw food at all - they make dried mixes you add things too (meat or water, etc). so im no sure why its on the list.
bravo i have a lot of experience with because its the premade food i use almsot exclusively - i buy ground from them because its easier than me grinding my own at this point, and i do use ground for busy times in my life when i dont have time to watch the dogs eat (such as now, being on clinics 70-80 hours a week).
bravo has a WIDE variety of things - NONE of them come with supplements, and they make ground with and without organs, veggies/fruits, etc. they have RMB's as well as organs only, in ground and whole forms, as well as treats, supplements, etc.
the owners of bravo are awesome - i belong to a coop and we order approx 2 TONS of bravo every month or so, and we all adore the products . ive used almost all of their products and my puppers love them!
other places i like to order from:
www.haretoday.com - good products and some good treats too. bowie recommends rabbit ears
www.rodentpro.com for some feeder chicks, etc.
ive also fed wysong raw food, the BARF diet (billinghursts line), and there is natures variety (not sure if this is available nationwide yet), and omas pride (
www.omaspride.com)
things to remember is that most raw foods are available LOCALLY - its usually economically prohibitive to ship food, as well as touchy with heat, etc and how long a product can stay fresh. many smaller companies only sell in their immediate area - those that ship do so with significant cost to the purchaser sometimes.
there are coops across the nation, email lists for regions and breeds, etc that can help you get good prices.
