| | Lil Pup | Can Pepper & substances inhaled hurt puppy? Anyone have any past experience in what happens when a dog inhales pepper or other substances someone may spread in in a yard?
What to do with a person that is spreading stuff sll over the area to try to keep dogs out of his yard. He did not tell anyone he was going to and admitted he did it when asked.
My training and thought is that some dogs are natural trackers and some are not. I believe that if a puppy was to inhale something when it is actively sniffing the ground this could very well cause the puppy to stop holding his nose to the ground and never track or want to.
What will or could this damage the nose of a pup medically?
Does anyone know?
I think it could cause a puppy to shut down and never get over the experience and never track.
Any comments? Anyone know if this would be a crime or considered animal abuse and the possibility of charges against the person that did it on purpose?
This just happened and I need to hear what others think.
Thanks,
LaRenegade |

LaRenegade | I think people spread all sorts of toxic substances on their lawns for one reason or the other, so the odds of sustaining an abuse charge are slim to none. It's hard enough to convict people of these charges when there's direct, outright abuse. Seems like if people kept their dogs off of someone else's property, there'd be no problems.
I really doubt a dog is going to shut down on using their nose..their entire world is pretty much defined by scent. They use their noses far more than they do their eyes.

I live in a semi-rural neighborhood and I'm always shocked at the few who either let their dogs run or don't pick up after them when on walks. Use a leash when off your own property and always carry a poop bag.

This amazes me too and drives me crazy!!! The retractable leads are no better.. as people let their dogs wander half way up my lawn to do their buisness.

| I don't allow Java to poop on other people's lawns and I expect others to do me the favor. Picking up dog poop in a bag (or double bag if you're squeamish) and disposing of it properly is not a big deal. I've done it, French manicure and all! Wish cleaning up baby poop was as easy (Pampers or no Pampers).... |

One person let their dog wander in my yard and then pull the lease over a driveway reflector and break the reflector off the top. You know they told me what happened and replaced it,,,,,,,,not!!! There are just a blue million diseases that cats can get(some even when vaccinated), not even counting the abcesses from fights. Plus I happen to feed birds and I like baby rabbits. Loose cats are not my friends evn tho I love cats. Keep them out of my yard. Nothing like that tomcat spray greeting you as you approach your door. |

| yeah, i have to say that there is NO reason for a dog to be in someone elses yard.... I hate it when random dogs are running around, its just not safe for anyone involved

| Dogs are only as good as their owners!! I agree with all the above, dogs should be leashed or contained; all excrements should be picked up and disposed of; courtesy is the main word. Of course all of this is in a perfect world!

| Ooooh, don't get me started. lol.
They stand and chit chat while their dogs wander 15 ft away from them.
My dog snapped at a neighbor's dog who barreled up to her unexpectedly. The owner was too busy with her conversation and I was trying to back up with my dog, wondering when the hell she would lock the line. I'm sure my dog has a reputation now because "Chance was just trying to be friendly". Meanwhile, my dog was at my side on a tight leash.
