| | Alpha | Stella eats chocolate my girlfriend left a chocolate bar on the table. stella ate about 3sq inches of dark chocolate. from what i have read this isnt enough to severely harm a 75 lb dog. any advice? i just got home from class so i dont know when she ate it but it was between 2 and 6.
-thanks!

| From what i've heard it takes more than that to harm them. Watch her close and if you notice any changes at all take her to the vet. |

| I too agree that she will be ok and that it wasn't enough to make her very ill. You may want to give her a little pepto, but it is more important to watch her for the next few hrs.

| | True to You | I agree to watch and see what happens. Harmony ate a bag of hershey kisses and she had a huge case of needing to go outside for about 24hrs straight. National Geographic had a great page for weights and chocolate effects. Chocolate Chart - National Geographic Magazine

| | Big Dog | This isn't an issue. A dog would have to eat A LOT more than that to get sick as the toxic dose is quite high. |

| We used to have a long thread I started when Q ate some chocolate but it was lost when our site was hacked. Someone posted a great chart about how much of each kind of chocolate a dog would have to eat (based on body weight), to get bad sick. I was great and I'm sorry it is lost. You may try the National Geographic site that DreamDobes speaks of.
Does anyone know if we have a helpful hints area here that I don't know about where they keep educational articles and charts and stuff? Maybe those of us who donated could then donate our extra storage space to an area such as this. I would be willing to donate mine. |

| Anytime I've seen a dog eat a non toxic amount of chocolate, the result was a bad case of the runs.
