I've heard it's safe and then I've heard it's really not. any advise will help!

This is not an area of expertise for me. So you're getting my opinion, for what it may or may not prove to be worth.

There are private airlines/pilots who transport dogs (and other sorts of animals). If I were going to ship a puppy or have one shipped, I'd arrange through one of those.

My puppy flew to me when she was 8.5 weeks old and she was fine. The breeder and I worried the whole time mind you We then flew again twice when she was a year old and again there was no issue.

Just be ready with food, water, fresh blankets, and baby wet wipes to clean your puppy if she has an accident on route.

Call the airline before you make the reservation and again after the reservation is made. Each airline and country has various requirements such as vet certificate to consider. If shipping from another country you may also need to pay duty before you can pickup your puppy from the airline shipper.

My puppy was shipped to me. He was totally fine, good airlines will not allow the puppy to fly if the weather's too hot or too cold (we were delayed a few times due to hot weather).

He came home with a little vomit on him, but otherwise was good to go. Just bring baby wipes to pick him up.

I have done this several times and never have had any problems.

Reba was shipped from Atlanta to Costa Rica and I was comfortable with that. I just made sure that she would be on a direct flight. I am just not comfortable with having them making connections.

When we returned to the US from Costa Rica we flew on the same flight as her to Houston. Our final destination was WA state and since that would have involved multiple flight connections, we decided to drive from Houston to WA with her in the car.

I just had visions of her missing a flight and being stranded on the tarmac
