| Thor has a mass on his side Thor is having a mass removed from his side Monday. Good vibes that it's benign please. I took him in today because I was worried his allergies were kicking in again since he has more eye buggers than usual and is loosing some of the hair around the eyes. But as it turns out he has an eye infection in both eyes. My vet said his lower eyelids are turning inward a little but hopefully once we clear up the infection they will correct themselves. So he is on Ofloxacin and Neomycin drops. But then my vet felt the mass on his side. A couple of months ago they aspirated it and got fatty cells so we been just keeping an eye on it. Today it felt harder and attached. So my vet said we really should take it out and biopsy it. And then to top it off I had to take him back in this evening because now on top of it he has severe diarrhea. My poor boy is falling apart. I feel so bad for him.

| You're a good Dober-parent. Good job being his advocate and being aggressive.
Now I just hope he heals well and all subsequent news is good.....stressful stuff.

| I thought his diarrhea was getting better this morning but he just had 3 episodes within an hour. He is eating fine (I do have him on I/D Rx food to make it easy on his stomach) and he is drinking water. He is a little more subdued than normal but not a lot. I just called my vets emergency number and talked to the vet on call. I never met her before but I told her everything and she told me to give him 2 Imodium pills tonight and call her tomorrow morning. I did ask her about the eye drops he got for the eye infection but she doesn't believe that to be the problem since it would take a lot for them to absorb enough to effect him systemic. (or so she said) I'm really concerned, especially since he is supposed to go under anesthesia Monday for the mass removal.

| oops, i thought he was on an oral antibiotic too.
maybe just put him on a bland diet or broth diet until he needs to have his food removed before he goes in for his surgery.
hopefully all is well an he is just getting upset from all the 'different' things happening to him lately, or maybe as you are worried...so is he.
good that your Vet has been updated!
Hugz to the both of you.

His ability to read me is what makes him such a great service dog and the reason I no longer take him to the dentist with me. I'm always anxious going to the dentist even if I don't outwardly show it. So when I took him with me for a cleaning and checkup, Thor decided that as soon as the dentist came in and sat down, to climb into my lap, put his head on my chest and stare at the dentist from like 10 inches away. He didn't growl, or anything just stared at him. My dentist is a really nice guy and loves dogs, so I took the opportunity to open Thor's mouth and ask his advise as to a spot I notice on his teeth. Thor had not problem letting the dentist poke around in his mouth with his instruments to probe the spot. But I still decided that in the future, especially when I need a tooth drilled, I would prefer my dentist to have a steady hand and being stared down by a nearly 90 pound Doberman might be a bit unnerving no matter how much you like dogs.
