| First Aid Kit? What does everyone keep in their dogs First Aid Kit? The other night in Chat one of our members needed to take their dogs temperature....and I realized, I don't have a thermometer just for Petey. So I'm in the process of putting together a Emergency Kit just for him. I know most of the items I would need are already in my house, having 4 active sons and a husband who still thinks he is 16...but during an emergency....I think it is a good idea to have them all in one container. So please add your best suggestions.
Thanks!
Carol & Petey!

****I just put the directions and the phone number to the nearest E-Vet in my kit, I think that is really important to know....so time wouldn't be wasted getting the dog in for treatment ASAP!

| IF I had an e kit.... it would have what tragas has, and aspirin as well as a bottle of Vodka incase I needed it...
We need an *embarassed* icon.
Although, I do have most of the listed items at home, they are all over the place in the bathroom cupboard and not in one case.

| I think I have everything tragas has ...with the addition of:
Betadine scrub (soap) for wounds
A small amount of practical cotton and a pack of horse vetwrap, in case you have to bandage a wound.
I don't have a muzzle. I should add that.
I've used a fleece sweatshirt as a quick thinking tourniquet on a horse's cut leg.
Edit: I put everything in a Rubbermaid type box with a snap lid and take to to all dog activities. I don't keep it in the car all the time because I'm worried the heat/cold will affect stuff in there.

| ha ha that's what I forgot to put in, Betadine amazing stuff
Thanks ellenm, I was racking my brain to think of it and too lazy to go get the box out lol.
I actually have it all in a nap sack and just add my travel food container in it and grab it and go, and have another one always at home |

My girl is tennis ball obsessed. I'm going to see if I can get her to carry her own stuff, like your dog! That's a great picture. |

Two more item ideas: unscented baby wipes in a zip-lock bag, anti-bacterial hand wash (small purse-size).
Def a list I am going to record and follow-thru on. |

| I also bought my dad a couple of sterile single use surgical staplers in the event of lacerations on the field. I picked them up online though a medical supply service, and his vet also lets him buy them, since he's seen what upland bird hunting can do to the dogs.
