| Brandy's TPLO Brandy's surgery went really well! The surgeon told me that her meniscus was pretty badly damaged along with her ACL. Once she heals, she should be feeling much better. We get to pick her up on Sunday, I can't wait!

| Get lots of chews....
Some days I wonder how I got through all that with Carson, because he is SO restless.
Just wanted to mention that one thing that really helped was moving him around, from crate to ex-pen, to gated area, etc. I'm sure it was less monotonous for him. |

| Get well fast, Brandy! Hope the process isn't too hard on you, keeping her quiet.
If it was Roxy, I would prob just leave her in front of a warm heat source...she will lay all day in front of the space heater at work.
And chews seem like a good bet.
So glad the surgery went well!!! |

| Good luck with healing!
I would suggest blankets, or a dog bed, or anything to help protect the protuding joints, like hips, or elbows, while your Baby is confined.
You know, it is so quick that sore spots appear on our naked Dobers.
I am happy that you found a competent Vet to perform that surgery.
'Sending good thoughts and wishes for a healthy recovery. |

| I'm sure there will be many more, but here's my first question. My husband and I have been discussing how we should bring her home. We have a Honda CRV and she normally just sits in the back seat. Hubby wants to put her in the all the way back because he thinks it will be easier to get her in and out. My worry with that is if she tries to move there's no way we could stop her. I'd like to put her in the backseat and sit back there with her. What's worked well for you all who have had to bring your babies home post op?
(maybe they'll go over this with us too when she gets discharged. I'm just trying to be prepared).

| You'll be surprised at how active they seem when you don't want them to be.
We picked up Carson the same day, and I sat in the backseat with him. It's best.
They can help you get her up, use a sling or whatever. Take a sheet with you to help into the house when you get home. |

| Depending on how long the ride home is, she might be whiny when you get home and you might have to up the pain meds for that day. Ask them before you leave what dose you should give her if she showing increased pain.

| I'm so glad her surgery went well. If she isn't used to the way back I imagine that would be stressful for her and she may hurt herself trying to get to her usual place in the back seat. I think it would be best for her to ride where she always does.

| Brandy did well overnight. She got up on her own when the vet came in to do her rounds this morning. She also ate for them! The vet said that that's a really good thing, that while she's gone through a lot she's not letting it bother her too much.
Excited and nervous to pick her up tomorrow. It's all on us from there!

| She's still doing good! Eating, drinking and peeing. She's resting well and will be happy to go home tomorrow.
ETA. I did buy her another nice ortho bed today. She had gotten blood and vomit all over her other one, so we had to throw it out.
I'll try to get some pictures up tomorrow night if we're not too crazy.

(maybe they'll go over this with us too when she gets discharged. I'm just trying to be prepared). | We have a CRV also. I love it! In the famous Chicago blizzard spring 2011, when all the cars were abandoned on Lake Shore Dr, and the city came to a halt, there was no work the next day. I was out on open vacant roads driving through snow banks... because I could.
Back to Brandy, I would have also suggested sitting in the back seat for comfort and safety. Did they suggest any supplements for improved healing? Did the Vet suggest any special diet?
I am so happy to hear Your Girl is doing well. |
