| | Lil Pup | My Big Brown Beautiful Boy has goe. I've just joined this site as I lost my BIg Beautiful Brown Boy,Remy,on 16th December. He was my life, he was 9years and four months, stood 28inches at the shoulder and weighed 110pounds. He was loving, gentle and fiercely protective and loyal
He developed a cough about 5 weeks ago, coughing and gagging. I accessed this site for info and feared the worst having read some of the posts. I took him to the vet and was told his lungs Oundle clear and his heart sounded ok. He was prescribed antibiotics and for a brief time I thought he was improving. He would be ok in the mornings but start coughing at about 9pm and his whole body shook. I knew my boy and I knew it wasn't good, we returned to the vet who took X-rays, these showed that his lungs were not absorbing enough oxygen and the vet prepared me for the worst.
Well, part from the coughing Rmy was his normal self, eager or walks, fetching sticks etc. But Saturday 15th he suddenly deteriorated drastically, he seemed to lose strength in his legs, despite this he still struggled out side to do his business, he never in his whole life had an Ccident in the house!
He did what he had to do but he lay don, like a sphinx as he coukdn't comfortably ly on his side now. We carried him inside but he couldn't move very much. However he did come into the front room and lay don beside me. I knew our remaing time would be brief and that was the last time he went outside.
I kept ith him bat night, the fourth night I had done this. At 4am he got up and wnt a lay bride the Christma tree, I could tell his time was near a he couldn't gt his breath. A few minutes later, he stretched himself up looked into my eyes and gently laid down and left me.
I miss him so much and I keep wondering whether I could have done anything to save him. My vet said that it was inevitable and preordained in his genes but I'm still hurting and wondering.
I joined this site to be close toothed Dobi owners in his time of utter desolation for me, I have a 10 year old Husky who is also pining but he is helping me brought. Sorry to be so morose but I just need to share with like minded owners.

| I am so sorry to hear of your loss Steve. They are never with us long enough, no matter how many years they are by our side.
He is now free of pain, he is running with all the other Dobes that have gone before him on the other side of the Bridge.
Rest in peace dear Remy, may Angels hold you in their arms and keep you safe. |

| Welcome Steve, I am so sorry it's under such sad circumstances. I lost my boy earlier this year to DCM/CHF. It sounds like your Remy had the same thing too. This disease is awful, please know there really was nothing more you could do for your boy. You loved him & were there for him right to the end, that's what's important.
RIP Remy, run free at the bridge sweet boy. |

| | Lil Pup | Thank you all for your kind words and understanding. It does help at this sad time.
I will post some pics of Remy soon. I may not post much a I will not have my beloved Dobi but I will be accessing site regularly and when I am in a position to have another I will be more active.
PS. Sorry for some of the spellings in my first post but emotion and IPad predictatext got the better of me.
Thanks again and love to all of you who love this fantastic breed as I do.

| So sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend last Sept and it is finally starting to get a little easier. Don't beat yourself up wondering if you could have done more, I went through this as well. Unfortunately when they get to the advanced stages of heart failure there isn't much time left no matter what you do. You were with him when he went and that's the important thing.
