| | Alpha | Crystal has just started acting weird.
She keeps shaking her head like she has ear mites !! I checked her ears and they are very clean and normal whilst checking I noticed her jewel was swollen on one side. As per the above photos. She has also come out in strange bumps on the top of her head like hives. Attachment 19538
I've given her an anti histamine.
It's quiet late here in the UK and the only thing she has had tonight other than her normal food ( Orijen ) is a antis vegetable chew.
She has had these before and not had a reaction.
Crystal has allergies and has had gives before but not the swollen neck.
The vets are closed its 1am here !!
She has settled since the antihistamine
What do you guys think

| Looks like an allergic reaction to something. Is it getting bigger? How long have the swollen areas been there, have they remained the same, increased, decreased since the benadryl?
If she were mine with a history of allergies, I would go to the ER vet as she may go downhill. Would not want to tell you to wait until morning and her throat start closing if it really starts getting worse. |

| | Alpha | I've only just noticed it in the last few minutes when she woke me shaking her head.
It's a couple of hrs since she had her chew.
I've just rang my vets. He said keep an eye on her, the tablet I gave should work.
We have major snow storm here too, hope she is okay. She has settled and isn't shaking her head anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

| | Alpha | Thanks ellenm
It's ok. She has gone to sleep now.
It doesn't seem to have got any bigger and at least she has settled.
One of my other girls isn't too well at the moment and we are all sleeping in the living room because she can't get up the stairs, she has just had major surgery for a ruptured cruciate ligament.
So I was panicking about driving in snow storms, leaving Darcy behind, Crystal's face and I'm on my own.
Thanks I'll keep you posted, George my vet said to bring her in in the morning for a check up unless she gets any worse.
Looks like zero sleep for me. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

Hope morning brings calmer, better news, and she checks out okay at the vet.

| | Alpha | Hi All
Thanks for your concern
Crissie is fine, the vet wasn't sure if it was the chew she ate or not ... but at least the anti-histamine worked quickly ...
she was back to her old self today ... Thankfully
The only thing is she has lost weight again |

| Glad to hear she is doing better. I was thinking maybe she chewed on a plant or something when she went outside, but you mentioned a lot of snow |

| I'm glad she's okay today.
On the weight loss, did the vet suggest bloodwork and fecal check?

| I would immediately have a fecal done and if that comes back negative, have complete blood work done and try to find the cause of the weight loss.
Glad to hear she is feeling better.
