| | Big Pup | Our girl has DCM I had written last week about Dara, our 6 year old girl diagnosed with DCM with an arythmia as well.
Her Fs% is a horrible 16
We recently put her on Vetmedin, Spiranilactone, Mexelitine and enalapril
cardiologist said she could die from sudden death and my wife and I are freaking.
She does not show signs yet of CHF thankfully and I will not let her experience any of that torture
I don't even know what that looks like
Doing a halter tomorrow, do not know what else to do |

| So very sorry. Hopefully, the meds will stablize her. Please let us know how the holter goes. For now, all I can say is live in the moment with Dara. My Baron has early stage DCM: Baron has DCM and has been stablized on meds and for the most part, I try not to think about and just live each day has happy as I can with him. Dara is in my thoughts and prayers.

I don't even know what that looks like | Hi, my boy was in CHF for 3 months, this is what he experienced.
He used to tire quite quickly & over time became more lethargic. He would also pant while resting & his breathing at times was all over the place. His ears & feet sometimes felt cold & his gums were pale. For the most part we kept the cough at bay with the meds. As the meds became less effective he was unable to lie on his side due to the fluid build up & he became restless & coughed more. He became picky with his food about 2 weeks before he died & it was a real struggle to get him to eat. Finally he refused to eat & we let him go.
However, on the positive side of things, while the meds worked he had great quality of life for 2 1/2 months, he was still able to do everything he enjoyed. I made sure he did something everyday that he loved to do & I treasure those memories of our last 3 months together.
I hope with all my heart you never see this with your dog. I wish I hadn't. IMO sudden death is kinder for the dog. I hate this disease & what it does to our beloved dobes. |

| So sorry to hear of Dara's diagnosis, it just isn't fair so many of our wonderful Dobes are being struck down with this terrible disease.
Hugs to Dara and her humans from Spain. |

| I am so sorry your girl has DCM.
Take the time to enjoy every day you have with her and to do the things she enjoys the most.
I only got a week with my mixed girl, but I was so grateful for what time we had to love on her, sort of say goodbye and prepare myself...like you can, before letting her go. This was a hemangiosarcoma case not dcm.
Best wishes for having some quality time with her. |

| omg...it seems as everyone has experienced DCM so sorry for you it is a horrible disease. I will say my last boy lasted a year with medication without going into CHF. We did have a few scares at the end but he was happy until his last moment because we were taking our daily walk and visiting with neighbors when he went down. |

| My 6 year old boy was just diagnosed too. He is only on Vetmedin. He has only had 2 doses and already more energy. Time is short. It is so scary. His echo was only 9.59%
Hate it.. but love dobies. People ask why I keep getting Dobermans. Guess they just never had one.

| I'm so sorry for those of you facing DCM with your Dobes.
I struggle to find words to convey how defeated I feel for all of you.

| I am so sorry you and your girl are facing this. I lost my Page girl to sudden death and my Buddy boy to CHF. I hope your girl does not go into CHF. It was almost instant with Page and I know she did not suffer at all. To see my boy so weak was beyond heartbreaking. Know that you are doing all you can for her. She doesn't know she is ill, but she knows she is loved. |
