agreed, apples and oranges. My wife is the same... She's about the only italian girl in New Jersey that doesn't tan... she's either bright white, or lobster red lol

Welcome to DT, and thanks for sharing Calamity's story, and in such a thoughtful way.

If it makes you feel any better at all about karma, I had a fawn rescue girl who (minus the human aggression) was all of that, and more, like Calamity.

I vividly remember her hitting her nose on a friend's sunroof one day, on the way to agility class, and making her nose hemmorhage profusely, because she was trying to catch the commercial jet flying over the vehicle. Between the blood, the screeching, and the insanely loud barking...can't understand why this classmate never really wanted to carpool again

I got a million stories like that, but I agree that dogs can certainly suffer some of the same demons that humans on the spectrum deal with.

Perhaps these two Dobermans that you have now will teach you lessons you can use to help more rescue dogs in future, you never know.

The part I quoted made me smile. I am a mother of 2 autistic children (don't worry I took NO offense to what you said, I could tell you meant it in a nice way), and I often joke that one of our cats is also autistic. She shares many of the little "quirks" that my kids have, and we find it endearing in her. Anyway long story short, I know how awesome people with autism can be (my kids show me every day), and your girl sounds pretty special herself.
Whew, I'm glad I didn't offend you, my partner has a nephew that also is autistic. Yes they are constantly amazing us. Thank you for understanding and having us!

Please do start your own thread with pictures, I think you will find DT members very non-intimidating, especially considering your humble approach. Making an admittedly ill-researched decision is something most have us have done at one point or another. Thank-you for doing the best you can with your dogs.
Besides, you heard the OP...you can't post on his super-special-smart thread unless you're super-special-smart enough
Where do I start a thread to post pictures, BTW?

And there is a required minimum of photos. How many pics do you have because that's the required minimum.
