| New food to bulk up I have a 1 year 5 month old Doberman and he looks a little skinny. He ways 80 pounds but I would like to get him up in weight with upcoming winter season and just to have a little more meat on him. I was wondering if there is a good brand dog food that will help with my situation. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. |

| If you could post some pictures of him, it would help, but basically, you want to be able to see the last rib or two, and see a clearly defined waist. The last thing you want is for him to be carrying too much weight, as it is bad for their heart and joints, just like an overweight person.

| Here is a picture I just took with my phone. Its not the greatest but thats the best I could do for now. You can't really see but I can see an outline of his hip bones a little bit. Just looks like 2 lumps. |

| He actually looks to be a good weight. Remember, at only 1.5 yrs old, think of him as a gangly 13 yr old human. Leaner is healthier. |

| He does not look in low weight for a young boy, however, if you want to put a couple of pounds on him that is ok - just don't overdo it as that is bad for them. If he were a show dog, I'd want a few pounds on him.
Instead of upping his kibble or changing kibble, try adding a meatball to a meal. I recommend buying the big packages of cheap frozen 1/4 lb pre made burgers and warming one up in the microwave each day - I don't cook them... but get them warm and gooey. Mix that in with his dinner.

| I like Fitzmar's suggestion for a meatball but agree that he really looks like he's at a good weight.
That being said...
most dogs put on weight in the winter months anyways (usually due to less exercise)
if your worried about him being cold buy him a sweater or jammies. Sure, it may look funny but my dog, as most zones do, LOVES his jammies in the cold months
-i don't know what you're feeding but if you are looking for a new food then check out this site Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble
*someone correst me if my link is wrong - I cannot double check because I'm on my phone
