| So very sorry you found DT under these circumstances. Was Maxx diagnosed by a cardiologist? Has he had an echo and/or 24 holter done? There is a wealth of information on DT regarding DCM and a great support group. My Baron was diagnosed with DCM at 4 1/2. This is his thread: Baron has DCM
He is one of the lucky ones. The meds he is on are helping control the disease for now.
Please feel free to PM me at any time if you need to talk. There are a lot of people on DT that have a lot of knowledge on DCM. I am sure others will chime in. If you have some time, please post some photos of Maxx.

| Maxx was diagnosed on Wed before Thanksgiving and kept overnight. He was discharged on Thanksgiving around 6pm. The Cardiologist said Maxx reacted very well to the meds. He had a cough that I now know was due to fluid in his lungs. He has been cough free since he's been home. His appetite is much better. He does look like he's lost weight. He's never been heavy but he's now at about 84lbs. His highest weight has been around 90s.
I'm so afraid to get my hopes up that he's going to get better or not get worse. I just love my boy so much it grieves me to think of losing him. He's been an integral part of my family for the past 8 years!
We have a follow up with the Cardiologist on Monday at 9am. What do I ask? What should I expect? I want to be an informed mommy! Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

| I am so sorry for your diagnosis. This disease takes too many and takes too young. I am sorry, but DCM is fatal. He will not recover from this disease. There are some that live a while after the diagnosis though. Make every day count for now.
Others will chime in about the cardiologist appointment. |

| I love the zipper on his nose, precious boy.
Sorry you and he are going through this. You will have plenty of company with this affliction that plagues our breed.
This is a good place to celebrate your boy where everyone will understand. |

| Thanks for posting the pictures of Maxx. Handsome boy. Is the cardiologist doing an echo and 24 holter. I would make sure if he does the echo, that he goes over the numbers so that you understand them. And get a copy for future comparisons. Also when the holter is read, make sure you get a copy of that also for future comparisons. I would try to read as much as I could on DCM before the visit. There is a Sticky Post in the forum section with some interesting articles: Links to DCM Information
Maybe some other more knowledge people will also chime in. Thoughts and prayers are with Maxx.
