| | Lil Pup | Update Hello all,
Sorry about the length of time it has taken to post an update, but here it is!
Meeks has been in rehab 3 days per week, and at our vets for the remaining 2 days. Fortunately my wife and I both work, and he needs to be in an environment where he is worked on daily.
So first off, as of Christmas morning, he made a huge breakthrough, and was able to stand up on his own for the first time since the surgery. Also, he is able to stand, under his own power, for 10 minutes at a time, and under minimal assistance, loves to walk around our yard.
What an emotional ride this has been.....we know now that he will make a full recovery, thanks to my vet and also the London Ontario Emergency Vet Clinic, where the rehab is performed.
The unfortunate truth is that this has cost about 15,000 to date. My heart really goes out to those who simply cannot afford the costs, as we have been stretched to the absolute limit!
But there is now a BRIGHT light at the end of the tunnel, and he is expected to make a full recovery! Thanks for all the positive feedback, and I promise to keep this post updated much more frequently! |

| So glad to hear Meeks is expected to make a full recovery. Bet it bought tears to your eyes when he first stood unaided.
Meeks is so lucky to have you, what wonderful dedicated doberparents you are.
Big hugs to you all. |

| | Alpha | I understand totally what you are going through. You have a long road ahead with this, alot of patience will be needed as you probably know. My girl runs now, is on long term meds but she still stumbles and I watch her constantly, because I know if she hurts her neck then it will be all over for us both. She has plates and screws in her neck but her spirit is up.
Prayers and hugs to you, please keep your chin up and I wish all of you the best of luck. |

| Oh, my goodness. A remarkable and wonderful milestone, but my heart was in my mouth as I watched the video. And when he stumbled at the steps, tears came to my eyes. Way to go, Meeks. You are such a very brave spirit. |

| What a fantastic update!!! Bought tears to my eyes watching him. I've absolutely no doubt that he'll continue to go from strength to strength. What a brave determined boy he is.
Keep up the good work.
Gentle hugs to Meeks. |

| | Lil Pup | Update!!! Hello everyone,
I thought I would post an update for those who might have been wondering how Meeks is doing....
Well, absolutely amazing. It has been a long road, and although he is not quite 100%, he is well on his way. I really wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who has posted/commented on this thread and sent me PM's....I really appreciate the support this forum and its members have provided throughout this whole ordeal. From the bottom of my heart...thank-you so much....your positive and encouraging posts have really uplifted me in a time when I needed it the most!
Also, if anyone else unfortunately has to go through this with their own dobe, please let me know and I will offer any and all advice I give.
Again, thank-you all for the positive and encouraging posts......and here is the latest video! http://youtu.be/ppoLDb2xi9U

| I see a great deal of improvement. Kudos to you and Meeks. Although he is still wobbling he seems much happier and enjoying his mobility. Best of luck to you both and thanks for giving him your best. |
