| | Big Pup | DCM and CHF I am so sorry; we too are dealing with this right now. Daisy is 6 and went into CHF in October 2011; so far she is doing very well but as you know it's a constant heartache.
She has had 2 "crashes" (one related, one un-related to the DCM) since and that really throw you for a loop.
Best advice that I got from this board and the people who know what you are going through: Don't mourn them before they are gone. and don't spend all your time researching supplements and other stuff. play with your dog, talk to them, ear rubs and time. none of the other stuff may make a difference, but the quality time will.
I massage Daisy every day, she sleeps on the bed (finally, she says and gets to do whatever she wants. She is never alone anymore, I can't stand it. I haven't gone out and done anything without her since her diagnosis.
We feel your pain . . anytime you want to vent, feel free . . . |

| This is honestly my worst nightmare, I am truly sorry! Everytime I read a post of DCM striking another beautiful dobe i cannot help but to imagen this happening to my girl! Dobe's bring us more than words could ever describe. I honestly tear up when I read about your tango, I will pray for your tango nightly! I take my girl everywhere to ensure there is never any time wasted while I have her. I am truly sorry; spoil him as much as possible |

| Well, it finally happened......... Almost 7 months after the first symptoms of CHF started. He was 3yrs and 10 months.
After a much longer and better battle than what was prognosticated by the Vets, Tango finally could not go on any longer and his body started to shoot down. I had to make the most dreaded and difficult decision of my life.
I f#$^%$*&%$ hate this disease. We literally tried every conceivable meds and treatments until found one that worked and made him comfortable. I cooked for him the last few months.
To say that I am devastated is an understatement. I lost a member of the family, my loyal and unconditional companion, and them some...
I just need it to vent here for a while. None of my friends or even my wife understand.... |

| Gator, words cannot express how sorry I am and how sad I am that another Dobe was lost to this horrible disease. When you feel up to, please take a moment and post some photos of your boy on the Rainbow Bridge forum. Know that DT is here for you.

| You just made me cry. I am so sorry for all who have had to go through this. I still cry when I think of my mini american eskimo that we had to put down due to renal failure at 15 yr old. She was ingrained into our lives we were devestated. Enjoy every day you can with your dogs, you just never know. |

| So sorry for your loss. I recently lost my boy at 3 years and 7 months of age with no advance warning. In a way I think it was better that way.
He was negative for the WSU DCM gene test but was also born with a heart defect which also played into it.

| My heart goes out to you, your young family and Tango.
You are a wonderful role model for your family. Someday, you can show your daughter photos of Tango and receipts and tell the story of "how you take care of someone in your family who you Love, even when they are sick. That you never give up. That is what family and friends are for."

| I am so very sorry to hear of your tragic loss. I agree with your <expletive deleted> this DCM disease assessment, and only wish we had the solution in hand right now. It is so hard to see so many lose such great dogs at WAY too young an age, without any apparent explanation beyond the disease being prevalent in the breed.
I am especially sorry your real life people apparently don't have support for your grief. Many of us here absolutely understand how easy it is to love a dog in a way that is pretty well beyond description. Maybe the best way to describe it is that most of us will have another, regardless of how long or how brief our affair with a lost Doberman has been.
Again, condolences.
