| loss of appetite! Tucker has really lost his appetite this past week. He had some diarrhea for several days but now they are normal. His activity level is totally normal-happy to go for runs in the woods, engages with me w/ energy etc-only his appetite is really lacking. He will barely touch his breakfast-even eating his cooked chicken I feed w/ each meal he picks at but will eat. By dinner he will eat about half-but you are talking about getting about 1/2 his daily ration...so he is eating about 2 cups/day.
I can entice him somewhat by putting the food in a toy that he likes to push around & he'll eat that somewhat.
Everything has been the same, except I must say this also started after he did a breeding last week...is he lovesick? |

| Is he still intact?? I have heard the boys can go through phases with their eating.
ETA - Can't read - if he's been bred he obviously has all his man parts!

All my breeders girls are just coming out of and going into heat and all of her males are either being picky, or in the case of two of them, one being bred this past week in fact, they just completly stopped eating but attitudes where and are still the same.
It's a normal response for a lot of males when the pheramones start flyin so to speak. Once he gets over his "libido" he'll be fine.

| Thanks so much! I wondered if it was mostly emotional as all else is the same. Interestingly, when I train....therefore he is engaged w/ me...he will eat his reward.
I called the breeder before I checked back on this post & she also said this re: his libido and if I had washed all the clothes I had on @ the breeding. (I had).
Learn something new all the time! |

| My girls dad is the same way, I can work his obedience and parts of his basic schutzhund and he gobbles em right up, give him a bowl and he stares at me like it's a bunch of poop and how can I possibly expectt him to eat that. Boys! lol

| sam1491 that made me laugh..yes, that is how he is looking at his food that I lovingly prepare & try to entice him. Hec, I even gave him some left over moose we had (which he LOVED) but I didn't have much of it. I will cooks some hamburger & see if he thinks it compares to moose-usually I cook chicken which he is pretty bored with I think. |

| Lol isn't it the best way to describe "that look"!
Personally don't fret and make a fuss, obviously we all want them to eat at least a little but if he doesnt want it he doesnt want it no matter what it is,the boys around here get offered the normal food regardless, the appetite will return soon, certainly faster than here as his gf isn't around the whole time she is in heat like here!
These poor boys are so "lovesick" lmbo it's just pitifull and hilarious!
