| Guilty got a nasty spider bite :( And I mean nasty. I noticed a small swelling on Guilty's hip on Saturday morning, and assumed it was a puppy pimple or something along those lines. She didn’t seem bothered at all, so I decided to keep an eye on it.
Sunday morning, I noticed that it had swollen up twice the size that it was the night before, so I took a closer look and pushed on it a little and gross green pus oozed out. I took her to a vet at the show grounds, and they said yes, a bite and put her on antibiotics to treat any infection that might be present. After two doses of the antibiotic (clindomycin sp?) the swelling was down significantly.
I took her to my vet at home yesterday and they prescribed Previcox to help the swelling and inflammation decrease some more. They also cleaned the bite and had to remove a small piece of necrotic tissue right at the center of the bite.
I had read about cold laser therapy helping heal spider bites, so she also had a laser treatment on the area.
The bite area looked good this morning, but there is a pretty big pit in the center where the venom was injected. Is there anything else that I can do to help the hair grow back and the wound heal?

| ouchies! sorry, can't help on the wound treatment. I think JulieW's Cher had a bad bug bite once. Maybe she'll chime in. Give Guilty a hug. |

| Keep an eye on it that the flesh doesn't continue to go necrotic-I'm sure you know about it but it doesn't hurt repeating-it could be a brown recluse. It sounds just like the bite I had from one on my elbow when I lived there. Pus, dead tissue, a few trips to scrape and clean it out and major antibiotics. Left a nasty hole. Best of luck for Guilty.

| Keep a very close watch on it. Ray Carlisle had a dog, Gracie, get bitten and almost lost her. She did end up with extensive tissue damage.

| I had a dog with a spider bite on the side of his face which was making a nasty oozy crater that was doubling in size in less than a day... by day four, it was about the size of a fifty cent piece and getting scary. Someone told me to use colloidal silver and I began drenching it every couple few hours. As soon as I began to use it, the growth of the crater halted. The second day, it was visibly healing. It was gone in short order, filled in and covered with fur. I used the CS until it was well and truly healed.
Just for the record, I am NOT a member of The Cult of CS. I keep hearing all of the magical stuff it can do, try it and almost always find it does nothing. It fixes spider bites and it is great for humans with gingivitis, which is all I bother to keep it around for.
If you can find someone who makes their own properly, it may be better than what you can buy. If nothing else, buy some now and also order some from the colloidal silver spot: how to obtain. I have been buying from Rich for years, and am a very satisfied customer. |

| I should update!
I got my hands on some Vetericyn yesterday and started treating the bite with it. I can already see the crater filling in with new tissue, and I swear I can see some hair growth. The whole area looks healthier with just a few sprays of that stuff.
