Any connection between bone cancer and pesticides?

I know there are a lot of people out there with vet training/research skills, etc. Could there be any connection with bone cancer and pesticides? We lived on a ranch which sprayed every three or four months and of course, there is where our boy would run to chase rabbits. We did our best to keep him out of the fields, especially AFTER spraying or crop dusting as we were warned of the hazards. We used well water and I wonder if this was a factor in our boy losing his life to cancer. If it's bad for us, it can't be good for our Dobies. Any thoughts?

I am in no way medically trained but my guess would be a resounding "Yes".

I dont know...I just live in the suburbs so just a yard and no crops but we figure we wont bother spraying our yard or using anything on it. Just the rain goes in it I think our yard is beautiful with the clover and dandelions in the spring. lol. everyone elses yard is all green even and boring
Have you ever thought of growing organic crops? or maybe limiting the spraying to only on the crops?

I just figure if its artificial I dont want to be eating it nor do I want my dogs treading in it or breathing it

I would say yes also. There is so much that we don`t know. Less of pesticides, preservatives, etc. etc. etc. the better off for all of us. I haven`t read anything that suggests that chemicals, pesticides are good for us. Just my opinion.

I heard that there is a correlation with scotties & pesticides. My girlfriend's parents lost two scotties - same kind of cancer - lung. One in TX there other in AZ. We spray our yard & house every 2 months - Isabelle has two types of cancer. She also ate science diet for a long time. It is hard to say, but it has to be something environmental. I think that the pesticides are probably not good, but I put it more on the preservatives & crap they pump into the food chain ie antibiotics. Now I try to buy almost all organic foods for Isabelle & us. SHe is eating high quality food - innova evo - and I am still on the fence about starting her on some new meds. I don't know much about canine bone cancer - Isabelle has melanoma & colon cancer. If I had to put money on what cause her to get cancer I'd bet it was the food before I'd put it on the pesticides.

I am very careful with pesticides around my dogs and horses. I use the fly preditors and horse manure for the plants and grass. I never spray my dog yard with any pesticide. When I do spray for weeds in the horse pastures I keep everybody, dogs included off for 2 or 3 weeks. Another theory re cancer is too many vaccinations, especially on an adult, I don't know if there is evidence there or not yet but you might check with your vet re the teeter test on dogs two or over with the Parvo vac.

My dog died of lung cancer a year ago this week, we live in a farming area, and he was run on fields, nose to the ground the entire time....being that he was a Weimaraner. I wondered about that when he was diagnosed.

My boy ate Nutro for about 4 years and Newman's Own for 2 years. Science diet rolled meat for treats. He also was on Missing Link.

There are some pesticides that have documented toxic effects. But generally, exposure is dermal contact or inhaled forms. I think if there is a link between pesticides and cancer, it's probably not linked to osteosarcomas. But then again, cancer is unpredictable, and tough to research. Even with commonly known carcinogens, such as second-hand smoke, the research is very new. If you're concerned, I would certainly research products.
