The best dog food is the one that your dog does best on

Truly, there are many great foods out there. I've personally fed Orijen (loved it) and now feed Nature's Domain. I've fed foster dogs Taste of the Wild. Whatever each dog does best on is the best food for that dog. Every dog is different. My personal preference is for a grain-free food.

When it comes to food, one size does not fit all. I feed a prey model (raw) diet and my dogs thrive on it. However, not everyone is equipped to feed this kind of diet.

Many people on this forum have success with Purina Pro Plan but again it's what works best for your dog

I feed raw and Coco does very well on this. You will have to see what works best with your dog.

There is no one perfect manufactured food as nearly as I can tell.

We all make the choices we find best for our dogs.

Most of us try to avoid the ingredients commonly believed to be less than quality.

Examine the links in Linda H's signature. Among those foods, I prefer to feed one star down from the highest ranking because I don't care to feed as rich a diet as most of the highest ranking foods represent.

But, as has already been stated, your dog must do well on the food you feed. That's the most important thing.

It should be good to be Dog.

there is no best, however the best protein source for food is probably fish(salmon, herring) or red meat(bison, venison, beef). Fish needs to be ethoxyquin free. Grain free is usually better than grain for many. Orijen/Acana, EVO, natures variety Instinct are top notch choices.
