| | Lil Pup | What do you think this sore is? Harley has had this sore on his back (neck area) for a long time, but it has just been a small bump. Now it’s swollen and looks like it needs lanced or something. I called the Vet but they can’t see him until Friday. Any ideas? |

| Tick bite? Petey has had this type of sore several times, after I've taken a tiny tick off of him.

| Older dogs get all kinds of lumps and bumps. I don't worry about them unless they grow fast or change appearance. So Harley does need a trip to the vet.
I can't tell much about it from the pic. Just looks like a bump. |

| Could be an infected hair follicle, treat it like an abcess, put a warm compress on it a few times a day and see if it will help. Of course talk to your Vet as well. Also it could have started as a so called 'Tender Knot' from the vaccination site and has now abcessed. Good luck. |

| | Alpha | Hard to say from the picture but, both of my last 2 dobes had benign fatty tumors (can't remember what they were called now, it's been a few years, lol.) that started out looking like bumps. My 1st dobes progressed rapidly and we actually thought he had been shot with a BB. Turns out the tumor had ulcerated. Had it removed sugically during a routine teeth cleaning... no fuss, no muss. My 2nd dobe had one and it took over 1.5 years to bother her, when it did, we had that removed surgically as well. Obviously your vet will be able to tell you definitively. I doubt it's anything to worry about, just keep an eye on it for now.
Good luck. |

| | Big Pup | Hi, My Dobes used to get skin tags after a certain age, maybe around 6 or 7 years. I had them removed when it was time for teeth cleaning...just didn't want to have them develop into cancer. But, I think they bothered me more than them.
Still, good idea to see the vet. Let us know the outcome. Good luck. |

| Java had something similar, turned out to be an infected follicle, lifted it out (gentle squeeze), cleaned the area w/ hydrogen peroxide and kept an eye on it. Healed almost immediately.
Best advice already given - keep an eye on it for any suspicious changes, and if it hasn't changed at next scheduled vet visit, make a note to remember to ask the vet to take a look at it while you are there. |

| Well it could also be a histiocytoma which are common in dogs under 3 or older animals. My little rescue girl, Sierra, has a few of those right now. They usually go away on their own and require little treatment. Let us know what the vet says. Tracy and Drago

| Kinda looks like a skin tag to me too. Nikita has one that I have been watching for some time now. The vet wasn't concerned about it unless it started getting bigger, which its hasn't. It will be removed when she has to go in for something else. I'm never comfortable having them go under for surgery, so its a waiting game.
