MissPhoebe

Phoebe goes to doggy day care about 3 times a week or so. Since she has been going, there are a few favorite dogs she has (or so I am told), and these include a little yorkie, one of the goldens and her fav is "Riley" a Weimeraner about the same age as her. I hear they are inseparable and play all day. I dropped her off yesterday and went in to peak at a Pointer that was there for the day whom they thought Phoebe would love. After the crew greeted Phoebe with sniff and nose bops and they started roaming and running around, Phoebe was checkin out the Pointer and up walked Riley the Weimeraner and lifted his leg and peed on her!!! He peed on my dog, lol.... she seemed clueless. Is this normal dog actiivity? I have never seen it or heard it. Was he marking his territory by peeing on her or being a jerk? Let me know so if I bump into his mom I can punch her in the nose.... KIDDING!!! That comes from some childhood sing-song poem for those of you old enough to know it.

Sounds to me like he was marking his territory, because he was used to having Phoebe to himself, and when she took interest in the Pointer then Riley probably didn't like it. It is normal for dogs of both sexes to mark their territory. It may be a jealousy issue. My dobe gets jealous when my sister's rat terrier comes over, because they are best friends. If one of us picks up Gracie, then Skyler comes over and tries to get us to put her down. Also if my rat terrier tries to even smell of Gracie, then our dobe runs over to get in between them. She doesn't pee or show aggression, but I think that she claims Gracie as hers.

Sometimes dogs get peed on. It's just kinda the way it is. Sometimes we try to attribute human emotions to dogs (being a "jerk") but dogs are incapable of actually trying to be a jerk. They just do what comes naturally to them and are really incapable of malice.
