| clean her chin before and after she eats with some warm, slightly soapy water or diluted apple cider vinegar

| | Lil Pup | My guy had this until he was about 4 on and off. Long after he did not have it anymore a friend had a Pit that had this problem, the vet told her it was from the plastic food bowl. Don't know if this is true or not, but I did change to a enameled metal bowl at some point in my guy's life. Don't know if that is what cleared him up or not because I can not remember if the two things happened at the same time. Cheap enough to give it a try if you are using plastic. Now I feel the need to research this. lol
Ok..did a search on Google for "dog plastic allergy" and got boat loads of hits. Try taking all plastic food and water bowls out of the picture and see if it clears up. I guess I fixed my guy be accident.

| chin acne is pretty common and like someone else already posted - cleaning the chin off should help. The bowl issue seems legit also.
I use all stainless steel bowls and wash them out - you can put them right in the dishwasher if you want.
Louise still occasionally gets a chin pimple at age 2. Velma is past them at age 4.

| We use a cleanser wash that surgeons use, called Hibiscrub the spots are basically caused by bacteria we find that daily cleaning usually sorts it out.

| Thank you all so much, I don't think it's a bowl problem because both her bowls are stainless steel and get washed twice a day. Evrytime I change water, I wash it. She gets two meals a day, and I wash it before I put new food in it. Thank you so much. I did not think that this is something we needed to go to a vet over, If it does not start to clear up then I will.

She is strange.

| Often there are ingrown hairs on the chin and the pimples have grown up around them. Squeezing them pops the hairs out. And then as others have said, clean the area with something, be it a mixture of peroxide and water, Listerine, apple cider vinegar and water, etc. Last night I used an anti bacterial Wet One. I would definitely work on the problem of not being able to squeeze them if you wish - it's a simple thing that your dog really should be able to readily tolerate. It's important to handle your Doberman in all areas so you can do what needs to be done in any given area at any given time. |
