| | Alpha | Henneh's not well... advice? I know she's not a dobe, but the health forum seemed most appropriate...
About two weeks ago, Henneh had a day of really watery diarrhea on our walk. Then she was fine, I stopped giving any raw patties thinking it might be due to that.
Then this past Saturday evening, she didn't seem right. Was panting though it wasn't that hot, and a little sedate. That night when P came home from the late shift, at about 3am, she was outside. She is always at the foot of our bed. She never gets up at night. He asked me why she was out there - I told him I knew she wasn't feeling well. Momma's intuition....
The next morning early we went climbing. We came home to watery diarrhea everywhere. H went outside immediately and continued to have some bouts out there. That night for dinner she didn't want to eat her full meal - ate very slowly. The same the next morning, didn't really eat, and I took it away from her thinking a bit of a fast might be good. That night P made white rice and pumpkin for her - she ate some, not a ton. Continued with very soft poop but not watery and no more accidents. Yesterday we gave her kibble again - she didn't like the rice, even with broth (! Frankie thought she was NUTS). She ate slowly, chewed every bite, acted like it didn't taste good, and picked up small mouthfulls and then dropped them on the ground, then eating it in very small bites. She didn't finish her meal. Tuesday evening her energy was better- she went on an hour-long walk with me... was dropping a ball in our lap, but still not eating fully.
Her belly is soft... I did feel a lump - like half a golf ball sized, soft, seems external, may have been there forever and she does have old-girl lipomas in other spots, just smaller ones. I just took her temperature and it's normal. I looked in her mouth, didn't see anything abnormal.
This morning's poop looks pretty normal, but she still didn't eat her full breakfast. Not finishing a meal or eating quickly is definitely NOT the norm for her. Frankie has a history of skipped meals but never Henneh.
Do I take her in? Wait another day? I think I'll call... maybe take in a stool sample? Her bloodwork a couple months back was "perfect" so although I worry, that helps me feel a little better. She will be 10 in November.

| | Alpha | I would recommend taking in her to your vet - better to be safe than sorry.
There are numerous diseases that can affect the GI tract/appetite some are no big deal and some can be deadly.
Hope she feels better soon! |

| Vet ASAP. I never wait...what do you have to lose, the cost of a office visit?
Hope she is on the mead!

| I would take her into the vet now - this is days worth of not acting right, and I would run bloodwork immediately as well. Even if her blood a few months ago was all fine, she is ill now and it could show you potentially why. Radiographs (xrays) may also be in order.

| I agree with everyone. A trip to the vet is in order. If it was only one episode that could be explained however like doberkim said several days should be checked out and things could change so much in a short period of time. I would take doberkim's advise and get some bloodwork done right away. Also is there any chance that she could have swallowed anything that she should not have?

| I wonder if she had a virus? Glad to hear she is eating & pooping normally. Hope she is on the mend! We will still keep thinking of you both! |
