Question Dancing Doberman Disease

Over the last week or so Dozer has begun to show symptoms that describe DDD exactly. He lifts one back legs off the ground when hes standing, sometimes he will rest it with his toes curled back. His gait is normal and he does not limp when he walks, runs or plays and does not seem to be in any pain what so ever. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any advice or info? He does have a vet appointment but any info from fellow Dobie owners would be great!

cooper too..

Our little guy seems to be going thru the same thing, I dont know what ddd is (I am going to go check it out now), but people have suggested that Cooper has "pano"-puppy growing pains, and he will grow out of it, he has a vet appt on tuesday, apparently 1000mg of vitamin c and switching to adult food helps for pano, but ddd? how old is your guy? Cooper has the exact same symptoms, doesnt seem to be painful or slow him down at all though. Can you please repost after your vet appt and let me know how it goes, maybe it will give me some useful info too, and I will do the same after Cooper goes to the vet.

I'm not sure what DDD is but what you are describing almost sounds like what I call "fake scratching". Does he lift one foot off the ground and bring it forward as if to almost scratch himself?

I wouldn't worry about these fake scratches. I have had numerous dogs over the years do that and I always thought they just weren't itching bad enough to put forth the effort required to actually hit the spot.

If people want to give their dogs vitamin C, please start off with a small dose, and watch their stools. Large doses of vit C can give people the runs if they are unaccustomed to it, and I imagine it might do the same to dogs! There are vets who specialize in alternative and naturopathic treatments, herbals, homeopathy for dogs, accupuncture, massage and doggie chiropractic. Just don't experiment without really good information. It could make your pup feel awful. caring nurse and nutritional counselor
