Thanked 2 Times in 1 Post
It's a looong story. Rocky has always been "special" when it comes to health concerns. (He's a rescue pup)
A few months ago, Rocky's pee started to pee blood, so we took him to the vet. They did a urinary analysis and an ultrasound, where they found stones in his bladder. The vet told us it was struvite crystals and put him on the Urinary SO diet. Fast forward a few months (and I don't know if it's related or not) Rocky starts vomiting after every meal. His vomit is basically the kibble undigested. But he's still his normal active and playful self. One day, however, the vomit becomes bloody and nothing he eats/drinks stays down, so we took him back to the vet. They ran a full blood panel and said his protein levels were really low, elevated liver enzymes, and low but still normal pcv count. But while waiting at the vet, he started to get pretty lethargic and mopy, so they told us to leave him overnight. Overnight, he really crashed. He had diarrhea, which was all blood. Because of his vwd and dangerously low pcv, they gave him a plasma transfusion and 2 blood transfusions. That was a week and a half ago, and now, he seems like his old self again. We've been feeding him boiled chicken and rice, but don't know if we should start him on the urinary so again or not. I just have a feeling that it might have caused all the problems????
O, and i should also mention that this is the 3rd time he's had to have transfusions, and he's not even 3 years old yet. Please don't jump on me, but as much as I would love to do anything and everything for him, I don't think we will be okay-ing another transfusion if anything like this happens again.
Any help/input/advice is appreciated.
