| | Lil Pup | top of her head infected? HELP! Today, i can home after leaving for 3 hours to find that my puppy ears/head really smelled. So i took off the tape and there was yellow puss all over the top of her head. There is none in the ears it was on the outside/back part on the fur and on top of her head. Im guessing she is allergic to the tape? There is a very small red bump on the middle of her head but i cant image that all the puss came from that. I cleaned it all off with a warm wash cloth. her forehead was wrinkled up a little due to the ear posting. Could that have caused the infection? It is pretty hot and humid here.
Any advise you could give as to what I should to to fix this and prevent it, let me know. I just understand why hers ears arn't infected its the skin and fur on the backs. Thanks |

| I'd go to the vet ASAP. Don't take a chance with infection with a little puppy.

| After you take her to the vet, if you feel it is a sensitivity to the tape, there are hypoallergenic tapes - I've used non-latex tapes with success. They don't stick as well as other tapes; only means you may need to retape more often. |

| Are you taping the ears directly to the top of the head instead of posting? If so, you might be creating an environment for infection given the description of your current weather and the signs and symptoms.
In any event, yes...by all means take your puppy into the vet for examination. Infected pus and inflammatory allergic reactions are not the same thing. Because of the rapid onset of symptoms and that you have noticed a distinctive odor there is most likely an infection going on. Let us know what your vet says.
Good luck, Tracy and Drago

| were you posting the ears without the edges being healed yet? I'm just trying to get a picture in my mind of how recently the ears were cropped and what kind of aftercare was being used.... ie: what was done with the ears while they are healing.
Pus is not a good thing and a visit to the vet is definately in order.

| I agree with everyone else. A trip to the vet is in order. When you have pus and odor that is not something that should be left alone. Please let us know what the vet says.
