How drowzy does Tramadol make a dog?

Miesha has been sleeping alot more since we've gotten home from the vet... Im just wondering how dopey the drug is so I can try and figure out if she is becoming more lethargic because of the leg!

When Kinder was on the Tramadol, she slept 23 out of the 24 hrs in the day. It made her EXTREMELY tired. I was also very concerned but after some kind words here from the people on DT, I realized that sleep was the best medicine for her. I also knew that she wasn't in any pain so I became very comfortable giving her the Tramadol.

That's what I was hoping... a friend of mine told me they are knock you out. I know sleeping is the best thing for her... I was just worried about how much of that sleeping is from the drug! She is really dopey, she looks like I do after a fatty and a glass of wine!

Thank you!!! Im seriously going nuts here! I'm going through it alone for now... this was bad timing... my boyfriends working nights so he sleeps all day, and he's at work all night, until 6 am. The few minutes I have seen him we have pretty much just cried! I'm going crazy home alone all night, which is NOT normal for me!

Hang in there! Drink a BOTTLE of wine and smoke a nice, BIG fatty tonight and GET SOME SLEEP! Meisha is pain free and getting her zzzz's and you need yours in order to take the best care of her. Just breath, Tuesday will be here soon enough. Curl up with your two beautiful dogs and get a good nights rest

Rest??? what is this rest thing you speak of??? I finally got about 5 hours last night...

I went and bought her a kiddy pool today, I figured if I couldn't bring her to the beach I would bring the beach to her! Unfortunately I made the mistake of giving them their special bones right away so she had ZERO interest in it! I have a feeling when it's 95 out tomorrow she will! I put the frisbee in the middle and Baruch just runs around the outside barking! He is so funny!

I agree with Astra. Do whatever you can to relax some tonight. I know you can't help but worry - anyone in your position would be freaking out and rightly so.

When I've been faced with a very close pet falling ill I like to look through all the old pictures I have of them and remember all the funny times, sweet times, meaningful times...remembering what an amazing time we've shared can actually help to calm any frantic thoughts I may be having and it fills me with love for having had them in my life.

No one knows right now what will or won't happen but everyone knows you'll do anything you can for her no matter what happens. She's here now and you can still hold her.

Give Miesha a kiss from me and Fiona sends nubbins.

Well, you already got good answers....but wanted to say I've been thinking about you this weekend. Keep us in the loop after the vet visit on Tuesday.

(Cheers was totally loopy when on Tramadol, more than sleepy...kind of out of it).

Believe me I know... Miesha and I have a bond like nothing I have ever experienced! The few activities I planned I made sure I was in a good mood first... it's been really hard at night all alone here... Miesha has been sleeping upstairs in the bed... that's usually when I let myself let it out! If I start feeling really bad when Im close to her then I usually just leave the room until I calm back down! I'm trying, I just have to keep my mind busy!

I know it won't be as bad once I know for sure! It's the uncertainties and questions and what if's that are killing me right now! At least then I will know what we are facing!
