lump on dogs leg muscle....HELP!!

sorry for such a long post

ok....so here's what happened. on april 27th i got home from work and my dog had about 4 lumps on his back. when i left him that morning he had none. they werent too big but all different sizes. i took him to the vet immediately. she said it was from a insect bite, probably a spider or something. thats what i thought and i'm glad is wasn't anything serious. so she gave him an antihistamine shot and told me to give him some benadryl for a couple days. the lumps went away overnight. everything has been fine since until a couple days ago a lump has risen on his hind leg just about where the shot was given. it seems to be on his muscle. i don't think he has hurt himself b/c he doesn't limp or favor it at all. it also seemed to come up overnight. its more noticeable when he's standing and using his leg. he runs, jumps, and plays just fine and it doesn't bother him one bit. he lets me press and squeeze and mess with it all i want. i'm taking him to the vet monday but i was wondering if anyone has ever had any similar experiences? i read that sometimes a lump can arise from where a shot is given....but after 2 weeks???

Does seem odd, usually a tender knot from a vaccination site shows up sooner. Maybe a cyst at the vac. site? Let us know how things go.

My dog, Tara, used to periodically get a lump on her neck. At one show, I met a vet there and she told me that it was a reaction to her vaccinations--even though she had gotten them months ago. She said we could always try to drain it. Tara kept getting these things on her neck for as long as I would have her; they would come and go.

This is also one reason on why I will eventually start a thread on vaccinations--to make sure that the next dobe I get doesn't get these things. It would happen as some pretty inconvenient times.

well i just got back from the vet. luckily the lump is just fluid buildup. possible from some type of infection. she said it could have gotten infected from the shot but she gave me some antibiotics to give him. she said it should go down in a week. hope she is right thank god it wasn't anything real serious. i'm sooooo happy!!!!!
