Jada vet visit today

I had to take Jada to the vet today. She has had three accidents in the past week and this is soooooooo not like her. She was house broke very quickly and when she had an accident last night after going our three times throughout the night my husband knew something was up. Turns out that she has an infected vulva. The doctor said that her vulva is tucked up a little too much and this could result in future infections. I asked if it was something that could be repaired when we have her spayed and he stated that they could and try to bring it down. My question to past and present female owners is:

Has anyone had to deal with this issue and if so did you have surgery to have it corrected?

We are also considering have her stomach tact when they spay her. Also would love to hear any comments on this.

I would like to have the vulva taken care for her if this is going to be a problem for her. I really dont want her to have to deal with the pain associated with these infections.

I also forgot to add that my sweet little baby weights 60 lbs.

Six months old and she is pretty leggy.

I have not dealt with it, but have heard that sometimes the issue will resolve itself after going through one heat. So I would not spay her till after the first heat just to see if it will self correct at least some.

I have done the stomach tack at the time of spay and would do it again. It is a longer incision and you need to keep them low key for a little longer to give time for scar tissue to bond well. It was maybe $100 more to do it at the time of spay. I lost my first Doberman to bloat........... I'll do what I can to prevent it from happening to another one.

Isabelle had quite a few uti's when she was a pup. She too never had accidents unless there was an infection. I don't recall anything ever being mentioned about her vulva. She was spayed around 6 months. She never had a heat cycle. She also drips. Luckily the drips are controlled by meds. that are chewable makes it easier. She sits for her medicine. It's kinda funny - you tell her time for your medicine and she runs to the kitchen & sits. I agree with Velmadobe about waiting for a heat cycle - it may fix itself. Good Luck & I hope she's felling better.
Oh - Did they test her unrine to make sure the infection isn't in her bladder?

Alright I know about bloat but what is having the stomach tacked?? And why would that a make such a big difference rather than a normal spay?? Could you please explain it to me??
