Can I give your dog a treat?

So, when you take one of your pups into a dog friendly store and the clerk offers a treat, what do you say? I used to say sure. Now I'm thinking, when I say sure, I need to hand the clerk one of my treats to use. All the recalls are beginning to make me a little paranoid.

Just give them the treat you want fed - you can always say she's allergic. I don't think people will mind

I used to tell them sure, if they will take it. My dogs on the other hand had different ideas. They would take it and drop it. They don't like any of the treats that the stores give out. I just gave up. I rather they not take food from strangers regardless. If you feel that you will sound rude, tell them they have allergies or are picky eaters.

I always carry treats with me, and just hand them to people. I've done it since Lex was a little pup, so she would view friendly strangers as "candy factories"

Yep, I used to say sure as well.........but the more I learn, the less I say sure! I usually just say they don't tolerate grains well...........if they get offended, oh well, better that than a sick dog. Although most people understand.

This is what I say. But that's because Bruno is lol.

I have no worries with the recalled food as Bruno is on Medi-Cal hypo dry food. So he's safe.

But if you are worried about it. You can do the he's allergic. Or just bring your own treats and offer them to feed him one of your treats like you said

LMB, I wouldn't assume that at all. In case you didn't know, the Medi-Cal cat food (wet) made in Ontario has just been added to the recall list. Therefore, I would keep a very close eye on the Medi-Cal dog food.
