Male with enlarged nipples

Hi,
We adopted a 3 year old Doberman 2 weeks ago, he was neutered about 6 weeks ago. He has 2 nipples that are very large, does anyone know what would cause this?

I am guessing it is two on the chest area. I think wallering/laying around on them causes them to get larger. Just my opinion tho, I really don't know this for a fact. However, I have seen a lot of nipples do this in my years of living with dogs.
If you have any questions then ask your bet the next time you take him in. If the nipples are in an area other than the chest, I would wonder why they were larger too. Might take them into the vet for that one.
How about a picture???

I forgot to thank you for rescuing a doberman. Thank you!!!

It is his 2 that are second from the top and he also has a calloused elbow so I am guessing he spent a lot of time in a kennel? He is an extremely sweet boy and is our 4th rescue. The only issue we've had is he has marked a few times in the house, not in front of us but we think at night. We are crating him at night to hope to break him of it. I have attached a picture. Thanks for replying!

I think in some cases it's heredity. One of my dogs had two enlarged nipples--the one on the left was the second from the top and the one on the right was the third from the top. A litter brother had the same two enlarged nipples. The litter brothers son also had the same two enlarged nipples. Recently I saw a grandson of the litter brothers--guess what--same two enlarged nipples.

When my dog was 9 the enlarged nipple on the left side turned into a mess--I was afraid that it might have become cancerous--we removed it with big margins and biopsied it--it wasn't cancerous--the surgeons best guess was that it had become irritated and what was going on was an infection.
