CAH and Tumors

Hi all,
Wish we had better news! Rusty will be 9 years old on 3/8/2017
History-
12/15/2015- Diagnosed with CAH (chronic active hepatitis) per liver biopsy.
Medications- pills
Denamarin once a day
Ursodiol twice a day
Predisone 5mg once a day
3/2015- Check-up revealed a tumor on his leg and other areas of his body. Dr. Suspected cancer and also suggested radiation or Chemo. Due to the uncertain outcome of the CAH we elected to have no additional surgery. Tumor on leg continued to grow to a golf ball size. Dog did not mess with it.
He was doing great otherwise.
2/1/2017 had to start giving him whatever we would eat- hamburgers, chicken nuggets, eggs, biscuits, turkey, pancakes etc..
2/15/2017 noticed swelling and a tight belly
He is still urinating and pooping fine and drinks a lot over since becoming ill.
3/3/17 he busting the tumor open- looks like a black substance. We now have to watch him pretty much all the time to be sure he does not tear bandage off.
Will be seeing our regular vet ASAP to see if he can remove the tumor material and stich him up. Not sure if even an option due to his liver disease.
He does not show signs of pain but we all know Dobermans do not show pain often.
He sleeps well and still plays 1-2 hours a day and likes laying in the sun.
Cannot walk him because the Vet said no vaccinations a while back.
We are at the end of the road it think and it might be time to let him go. We will discuss options with the Vet ASAP. This has been a rough time in all our lives and I do not want him to suffer. If we cannot fix the leg thing we think it might be time to say good bye to our beloved Rusty who we rescued in 2009.
We are hurting and are not sure if now is the time to say goodbye.
Anybody else been through this?
Any advice if now is the time to say good bye?
We are lucky to have had him for an extra 14 months that was unexpected. The expensive medication kept him alive.

sorry your boy is dealing with these issues.

so hard to say what to do.

I am sure that after you discuss all this with your Vet, you will make the right decision.

You will do what is best for your boy.

Hugz.

I hope Riley's biopsy turns out well! CAH by its self is manageable by its self with medication and will add time as it did for us. The busted tumor on top of that cannot be managed nor to we want to make Rusty suffer anymore. We have decided to allow him to meet his maker as soon as our trusted vet is back in office. Maybe in the morning but soon. We are all hurting.

Attached photo was when he was in his prime

The good news is we will get see him again someday!
