Now that Oprah had it on her show that the best thing to feed our dogs is RAW MEAT.....I think we are going to go main stream!

I don't dare tell my current vet....I know for sure I'd get a nasty reaction. He didn't even try and help me with Petey's chronic diarrhea...just left it up to me, put him on meds twice, and last time I was in didn't even ask me how it was going?! I have told two dog trainers....who both were very happy for Petey! I am hoping this new vet that is building a place 2 minutes from my house is good. He is young and just out of school. His practice should be open soon, I plan on just taking Petey in to meet him.

that's funny. i get the same Q&A about luna's coat. when i say raw, they usually turn their noses up. it's funny. most of the time i try to evade the subject.

Not sure if this has been posted before.....I found it very helpful!

On the home-front Petey continues to do very well on RAW and has gas and diarrhea on anything else....I guess he is telling me what to feed him! His first month on RAW he gained 16 pounds. I think this was because his chronic diarrhea had stopped. He slowed to a stop this week, gaining nothing, first week since getting him that he hasn't gained a minimum of 3 pounds. People are still commenting on his HUGE ears and paws....I think he will continue to grow just slower now.

Just a note....I bought some different premade RAW foods, Bravo and Natures Variety to send Petey to the kennel with...he LOVES them!

that's funny b/c luna won't touch the premade raw diets. we were trying to do a mix of premade raw and homemade raw (as suggested by our vet to get nutrients we may be missing with our homemade). she ate it for awhile and then stopped all of a sudden. we tried and tried and tried, but she just wouln't touch it from one day to the next. very strange.... but she eats her homemade raw very well. i guess she's just that picky. what a brat!

Believe me...mine is a complete brat about his food too, one day he loves something...the next he won't touch it! Despite his size, he is a very picky eater! I like having the bone ground in the food, Petey sometimes throws up bones...scares me to no end! I know he needs to eat the bones and break them down himself...but I won't let anyone else monitor him eating his bone meal. So I'm going to give the prepared a try for when I'm not home too. It is expensive, so I won't be using it too often!

Update....Petey ate the pre-made at the kennel and according to the owner ate everything at breakfast and dinner all 4 days. He liked the Natures Variety best....it has 5% veggies ground in it, along with bone and organ meat, and I've been unable to get him to eat anything with veggies, except tripe. Tonight he had a lamb breast....boy was he hungry!!! I found it to be very easy to feed RAW while away.

FYI....Best part of feeding RAW.....almost no poop in my yard! 99% of the time Petey poops in the woods while we are on our daily hike...and that is usually it for the day! My son love not finding piles while mowing!

I think we Raw feeders are really hitting main stream now. MY friend who is a veg....was totally disgusted when I started feeding Petey Raw meat. She put me down for it big time! Well last night we were at her house and she said to me, I recently saw a piece on the news that Raw Meat was the number one best thing you can feed your dog!!! I couldn't believe that she would admit to me that she had seen it on TV. Now as a dog lover...she understands and is no longer down on it.

Something I discovered this am....Petey wouldn't eat his bone meal....again, so I sprinkled it with parmesan cheese....2 minutes later it was GONE!
