Antoher question...

On my other forum, alot of people are saying feeding only meat is not a complete diet that you have to feed veggies too. Like the BARF diet. Is also is BARF and RAW the same?? I'm really confused. I'm sure my dogs will get veggies from the table at times, but do they need be added into every day? I'm taking a nutrion class later this fall up to college. It's gonna be exspensive, as it's for the Veterinary Med students. They did'nt offer us too much in college. I'm getting over whelmed with people telling me I'm not planning on giving a complete diet.

I know the dilemma, I'm not sure either .... so I feed a very small amount of veggie mush every day, no more than a couple of spoonfulls. As I understand BARFers feed more bone, and sometimes just in addition to kibble, whereas "RAW" is full time raw meat and bones. It is all very confusing.
Anyone else able to clarify?

we are thinking of giving our beasts an Easter special of Black Angus Chuck Steak & some eggs. Should either the steak or eggs get cooked or is RAW just fine for them?

Raw is just fine if they're used to it. Sometimes dogs can get runny stools if not used to raw eggs, or if fed too much at one time .... what did you end up feeding?

well as far as runny stools, our dogs get that if we give them some canned food as a treat. Usually any switch in foods causes it.

So, with the morning feeding, they got 1 raw egg on top of their Wolf King dog food.

Then the evening feeding they got raw Black Angus chuck steak with some cooked & smashed up yams & brocoli. The veggies weren't my idea. Anyway, they loved it & that was Sunday & so far no problems such as any sickness or runny poop. They may get a Raw day once a week, but unless we can find a place to get Raw food cheaper, I don't know they will get it every day.

Sometimes grocery stores will have chickens on sale for $0.59/lb. That's when I stock up, same thing with all other meats.

I'll have to watch. The dog food we feed hasn't had any issues, but I don't like all the recalls on food.

Petey is eating about 4 pounds a day in two meals....one ground in the am, and the other Raw Meaty bones.....he looks awesome, smells good, and incredibly his chronic diarrhea is gone! I couldn't be happier...other then if I could find meat a little cheaper! Feeding this way is very easy and so rewarding when you see him licking his chops and then just enjoying meal! Thank you sooooo much Kim....you are the reason I switched him.

People are commenting on how beautiful Petey's coat is! Some have even asked what I'm feeding him! The reactions are not too good from most...they gasp in horror! Lots of negative comments! I've been through this before...back in the day I've been a vegetarian, macrobiotic and a vegan, long before it hit main stream! Everyone thought I'd surely die eating that way. I will let my pup be his own fine example of RAW feeding!

Don't worry, and don't get into too many discussions if people don't understand, it's just not worth it. Most people just don't know much about the subject. Keep up the good work.
My trainer commented on FiFi's wonderful teeth yesterday, and asked if I brush every day... just said nope, raw food, and that was the end of that.
