The articles referenced on that site are older (~9-12 yrs ago). I would talk to your vet before adding any supplements in treatment of cardiomyopathy.

Very true. ATM my dog is not on any heart supplements just added EFA's which seem to only be stopped when a bitch is pregnant/nursing, or so i've read. I'm hoping this information can be determined to be a true preventative or cure for Dobe heart health. Hopefully Eastern and Western medicine can unite on this devistating disease.

Years ago, I had a dog in Dr. Kate Meurs study of DCM in Dobermans. Her research did look at Taurine and L-Carnitine and found Dobermans had sufficient levels and the lack of these were not the cause of DCM in Dobermans. She did tell me that giving these supplements would not hurt but she didn't expect them to be all that helpful in Dobermans though.
