Acupuncture made some difference for our girl. She was almost 12 when we had her PTS.

Zeus who is now 10 years old had surgery done early this year. More info in the archives under Zeus-wobblers.
He is doing well today almost 7 months later. No pain. He will never use a collar for walking again. Only a harness.

If you would like a picture I can post again. I erased photo bucket and did not realize it erased from everywhere that you ever posted.
A lot of care was needed at home in the beginning, but it was done and we are glad. Today Zeus is not on any meds. He plays with the kids and is pain free (which is the main thing). He is now 10 years old.

My girl is going thru this now-I have a few posts with info that may help. I am using prednisone and anti inflamitorys and she is doing well. 1st step is a vet check and they will do xrays-then take it from there. I also changed to low protein food added MSM and joint meds glyco flex along with the meds and VERY limited excersize only yard walking with no play with the 11 week old terror puppy--Best of luck it is very sad to see them limping around..

It seems that each dog with CVI exhibites different symptoms and progression. One of my guys was diagnosed with CVI at 6 years of age. After the initial pain, we exrayed him and he was put on anti inflammatories. When we finished with the meds he was fine for almost 5 more years though as he aged his mobility was 'off' and sometimes he would weave and wobble. He went down just after 12 years of age, was paralized from the neck down, we had him pts.
Someone else I know had a dog of a differeent breed with CVI, he had his dog on prednisone for many years until the problem worsened and he could no longer get around without pain.
There is also a post about a DObe names Silly Silvia {google it, it is quite interesting} who had the gold bead implants and wore a neck brace. I will try and locate the link. Wobblers.....is there an alternative to surgery?

CVI/Wobblers

My male had a lesion at C5-6 (dx unknown) and thoracic spondylosis. I maintained him with acupuncture and gentle chiropractic, then did the GBI. He worked as a therapy dog for 5 more years with very few problems before he died of a sudden cardiac event.
