You will typically have a lot of swelling of the tissues post op - so don't judge how it will really look by how it looks that first day.
It may feel to them like something is "in" the eye and they don't know better than to try wipe it w/ their paw or rub their face on the floor/furniture.
Even in people w/ eye surgery - such as Lasik - they make wear goggles at night to keep from accidently rubbing the eye.
The sutures used are very fine - not much thicker than a hair.

Young pups tend to heal very well and quickly.
Good luck w/ your pup!
I do know most of the conversations with the vet who did his surgery was about preserving that tear production which is why we tried to tack it down first before removing it. I wish I could remember which technique they used but I can't remember if I speak to his owner I will ask him. He usually checks in every few months just to tell me how he is in general. One thing I do know is he always seemed to have allot of gunk in his eyes from the time he was young and he has very deep set eyes.

I didn't think anything of it at the time just thought he had more of the Dobie eye goup b/c his eyes were so deep set. The cherry eye didn't appear till he was around 6-7 months old. And I was puzzled so I called every other breeder I could think of who breed to dog with a similar pedigree to see if they ever had it. Everyone said no never but things are so tight lipped most would probably never say they had even if they did. I was just looking for some type of answer.

Best of luck with your puppy and her surgery ! Hope it all goes well so you can show her.

Wow, that is disheartening, to say the least.

Props to you for investigating, and trying to do the right thing, grrrr to them if they didn't cooperate with full disclosure--that would be helpful to the breed as a whole.
