| Help w/pics...attached Hey all, figure I would post on here before next steps (possibly contacting vet).....I will describe each pic....
For the first pic, this is a sore or something that has appeared on his right side jaw just behind the point where it closes...not sure if its from chewing on a bone and he hurt it or if it's an allergic reaction or what....it has been on there for about 3-5 days...its getting better slowly though becse he likes to scratch of the scab and then it has to heal all over again.....
For the second and third pic, these are "bald" spots we are noticing on him...for lack of a better term I guess...anyway, the one on his leg was just done or at least seen this am....after he gets done biting/chewing on himself...not sure if he has mites or fleas or what but seems lately he is always nawling on himself....we put flea/tick guard on him just a few weeks ago but he still does it? And the pic of his chest/belly area, he has had this spot since Friday I think....again biting at it and I guess has removed the hair?
Any help would be greatly appreciated......Thanks
Michael |

| I would suspect demodex and would go to the vet for a scraping to confirm or deny. |

| I would be getting to the vet for skin scrapings if it were me.

Not to sound stupid....but I wonder how my boy got mites...we give him the regularly scheduled flea/tick control....
And even if a dog did get mites I wouldn't think it would get this bad....
Anyway, just wanted to say I've been researching...Thanks |

| All dogs 'carry' demo mites. Just another one of the 'natural' flora and fauna on our dogs. lol. Mites usually multiply and cause problems if the dog's immune system is impaired by stress, disease, or a hereditary predisposition to the mite.
Have your Vet do a skin scraping to either find that mites are the cause of your dog's symptoms or to rule it out.
To me it sounds/looks like an allergic reaction. What type/brand of Dog food do you feed? |

| All dogs have demodex mites. They get passed from mother to offspring and live as a normal part of the skin, rarely causing problems. However, those with lesser immune systems suffer from flare-ups from time to time that may or may not require treatment. |

What type/brand of Dog food do you feed? | Thanks for the info....that's interesting that you said it looks like an allergic reaction...that is kinda of the first thing I thought of when I saw it.....anyway, right now we are feeding Innova Large Breed Puppy...he has only been on it for about a month or two...prior to that we were feeding EVO and I think it was a little much for his system...so we switched to the Large Breed Puppy...was planning on feeding this until he was a year or so then switching to the same brand just the Adult food.... |
